Brass Beast
A slightly more polite equivalent to the humanoid brass man, a brass beast is the same alchemical process or the creation of a brass man, but applied to other intelligent creatures instead. While the two are almost exactly the same, the creation of a brass beast has a few additional requirements, and the difference between humanoid and non-humanoid physiology means the result of the alchemy has other unintended effects.
Forced Application of Changes In the humanoid societies of Rabiah, brass beasts are not considered illegal, but are still considered a tasteless accessory. This is due to their lack of intelligence and strange habits, but if more knew the truth behind their creation, they might be viewed in a darker light. Most people familiar with a brass beast assume they are created from larger creatures such as horses, oxen, or camels, but the truth is much more foul. Just as a brass man requires an intelligent being, so does the creation of a brass beast - centaurs, harpies, and sphinxes can all become a brass beast. While the alchemical mixture used to preform the process is similar, it has a different effect on these creature, tearing at their minds and reducing them to the intellect of beasts. For some, the creation of a brass beast is a more evil process than making a brass man, because a brass beast always requires that the origin creature be alive for the process, rather than reanimated as a brass man can be.
