Ali from Cairo
Known across all of Rabiah as a famous, almost mythical, spellcaster, Ali from Cairo is the given name for a man who has appeared numerous times across the many states of Rabiah, with stories of meetings with Ali being shared hundreds of miles apart within hours of each other. How this being seems to cross these vast spans, as well as how Ali from Cairo managed to achieve his incredible magical power, remains the subject of many legends and rumors.
Elixir of Life Ali from Cairo is not the true name of the man known for his incredible magical abilities, but his original name has long been lost to time, if it was ever known, and the man himself refuses to give any further details on his past. While Ali’s spellcasting prowess is great, these abilities are not derived from study, but were obtained through careful ingestion of alchemical mixtures. It is this skill with alchemy in which Ali truly shines, and through experimentation, Ali during his lifetime was able to unlock the secrets of the fabled Elixir of Life. This potion is thought by many to be a myth, and yet strongly sought after all the same, with some people giving their whole lives in its pursuit. Ali is one of only a few said to have ever discovered the method of its creation, and the only one who regularly interacts with mortals.
Copies of Eternity Though Ali does not age, and will always recover from even the most grievous physical harm, the benefits granted to him by the Elixir of Life do not truly prevent death. Ali can still be killed, whether by powerful magic or by anything which would destroy his body beyond repair. To prevent his, Ali has used his powerful alchemical skills to create exact duplicates of himself, copies which share his thoughts, memories, knowledge, and morals. What would be an existential nightmare for some has quickly grown to become Ali’s greatest tool- the ability to travel far and wide using his copies, each as much a man as the original himself, to trade and barter with locals, and provide help to those in need wherever they are found. The existence of Ali’s copies is even more a secret than the origins of the man himself, and no other creature on Rabiah knows the truth of how Ali can seem to be in several places at once.
A Fair and Hard Bargain The reason Ali is so well-known, particularly among adventurers, is his habit of setting up shop to sell the results of his alchemical research to those with the coin to purchase it. While Ali can not resist helping those in need, he does so directly, rather than by giving them the ingredients to help themselves. Instead, Ali takes care only to give the results of his work to those who prove themselves trustworthy- people, particularly adventurers, that Ali believes will use the potions and tinctures he creates to better the world around him, rather than for their own personal gain. Ali’s most famous shop sits in the famous Bazaar of Baghdad, although anyone looking for it never seems to find it in the same place twice, and sometimes it can never be found at all.
