Northern Jangobi Wastelands
North of the Jangobi Mountains, surrounded by nothing but cold waves, sharp winds and steep cliffs lie the Northern Wastelands. It is a land worn down by the never seizing winds where harsh weather blows around snow and rain and hail most days of the year. There are hardly any trees, few bushes and only hard grass to be found here. But the wastelands are not as empty as they might seem. Both predators and grazing animal can be found, hiding under rocks and in ground holes most time. And then there are the giants, who came here in the Second Order, being driven out of their former home.
Geography
Most of the wastelands is flat land with sharp edged cliffs along the coastline. Few hills and dales are spottet throuout the region, especially the small valleys offering shelter to all those creatures and plants that live there.
The ground on the flats is rocky and bare with litte grass and even less trees to be found. Most plants that do grow here are of a greyish colour due to too little sunshine. Especially during the long and cold winters the landscape looks desolate and dead, altough there is a rare beauty in the vast flats of snow if you just know to look.

Ecosystem Cycles
Winters are overlong in the Wastelands while the sumers are short and cold and rainy. During the few weeks when the sun gains enough stregth to allow flowers to bloom and trees to bear leaves the land seems to awake from ancient sleep, only to fall back into a grey gloom with the onset of the many summer rains. Soon enough the rain will turn to ice again, driving all living things back into hiding, back to sleep.
Natural Resources
With what little is there to be found, some creatures have yet managed to make a living:
- grass for a limited number of grazing animals
- meat from the grazing animals for some hunters
- with lots of hard work the giants even managed to harvest some crops from the soil
History
The land was empty for many millenia after its creation. Only few animals and plants lived there, battling the seasons. The first men to conquer the Jangobi Mountains in the south did not venture that far north as there was nothing to gain from that land.
The first and only of mortal creation that came to settle here where the giants when they where hunted out of their home in the Fire Mountains. After many years of wandering they finally came here and found this the first place they could settle in peace. Being creatures of simplicity and contentment they accepted the harsh climate conditions as price for their peace. They adapted and made their home there. Hardly anyone else ever ventured there, not all reached the settlements and even less made it ever back alive. Thus the existence of the giants in that northern wastelands was hardly known to any of the more southern living people.
