The Reveler

(a.k.a. Demigod of Debauchery, Father of Dimirus)

I've never seen someone drink so much and still be the life of the party, it was like the Reveler himself came to my naming day celebration!
— Young Philaen Lady on her birthday

His true name lost to time, the Reveler is an Elysian who rose to infamy during the Planar Convergence known most for stealing Luck from the Chronicler and being the father of all Dimiru. The Reveler is the god of dumb luck, celebration, gambling, and debauchery. Whenever there is a huge celebration many believe the Reveler will be there in disguise partying alongside everyone else.

History

It is believed that during the Age of Miracles the Reveler's Spark allowed him to manipulate his way into any situation he wanted. It helped that he was extremely handsome, tall and muscular, with eyes that one could melt into. The Reveler prided himself on being the life of the party and being able to swindle his way out of any sticky situation that he undoubtedly got himself into either one purpose or accident. He was also a ladies man who never stayed attached, known to sire many children just as beautiful as him. He traveled around the world, partying, siring children, and moving on to the next place. One particular night of drinking during the height of the Planar Convergence, while gods warred, the Reveler was dared by a fellow patron of the tavern they were attending to steal from a god. This was the ultimate gamble, how could he say no. He has gotten himself out of many a tight spots, he had enough liquid courage to at least attempt it.

The Curse of Luck

The Chronicler, though not particularly the most combative god, was on the front line of most skirmishes as even the history of the deities had to be recorded. This meant he was away from his home for long periods of time and though he saw much he did not see the Reveler sneak into his home and steal Luck until it was too late.

The Reveler did not know what he would find in the Chronicler's compound, what do gods even keep? This did not stop him from sneaking in, he made a bet he intended to keep. His Spark allowed him to influence people around him but there was none...this was easier than he expected. Clearly the gods and their armies of men were to distracted trying to keep the world from breaking, but the Reveler had no time to worry about those things. He found his way to a grand library, with book shelves that reached far beyond his sight, it would be a marvelous to behold if he cared anything about books. Deep in the halls of this library he found display cases with objects of clear divine power but none drew his attention like the glowing pair of dice. He didn't know that the gods even played dice but he had to have them and so he lifted the glass casing, with ease. It all seemed too easy as he swiped the dice and returned the next night to the tavern.

Luck was bountiful the night he decided to use the dice he had stolen, he already considered himself lucky but this was something greater and it was as intoxicating as the sweetest wine. Nothing went wrong the entire night, he won every game he played, he was given drinks all night, every woman he wanted he laid with, sometimes multiple at once. The Reveler believed himself to be the luckiest man alive.

After the World Serpent fell, the war was coming to an end, the Planar Convergence though still roiling had reached a distinct climax. Some of the gods had turned their attention back to their homes, their territory. All things are written in the books of the Chronicler but it is said this moment is lost. The Chronicler returned home and felt something was off. Time and Luck are intrinsically linked and though he had stored Luck away he still felt its absence once he focused. Reviewing Time the Chronicler discovered a man had entered his home and stolen a part of his Spark for Luck was his. That night he was reading about a man who was having quite a lucky run at a gambling establishment. He traveled to the man and waited for him to complete his latest conquest. The Reveler satisfied and naked was startled to find he was not alone after the lady he just met moments ago left the room. The Chronicler revealed himself and the Reveler knew immediately what and who he was seeing.

The Reveler begged for forgiveness and tapped into his Spark, trying to subtly influence the god before him. His efforts were futile and he knew they would be. He closed his eyes and gave up, embracing what would come next. The Chronicler sneered and looked upon him with discontent, then he spoke.

"You child of Life trifle with power beyond your comprehension...you thief have taken from me, who sees all. Luck is bound to you forevermore but the the Rite of Ascension shall not be yours. Your legacy shall be this...many generations shall flow from your loins but you and your progeny shall be half the man you are now."

The Reveler's perspective changed, he felt the room getting bigger, as he shrunk.

Dimiru

The Reveler and his children born and unborn for all generations had been cursed to be "half-men", much shorter than the average man. They became known as the Dimiru. The only gift he was able to give his children in return for his folly was a touch of Luck.
