Council Tower

"If there was ever any doubt that Philae is the greatest nation in this or any age, just look to the northern sky and gaze upon the tower as it breaches the heavens."
— Philaen farmer to his son

No matter where you are on the continent of Duankh if you look toward Philae you will see the seat of power, the Council Tower high and mighty piercing the sky. It's visage stalwart and unmovable just like the mighty nation it represents. Within, the Council of Philae conducts meetings on the affairs of the nation they govern. The tower has stood since the founding of the nations capital, Citadel. If the tower falls then so too does Philae.

Purpose / Function

The Council Tower was purpose built as the seat of power for the nation of Philae. It did not start off as the looming tower in the sky, but grew over time as the capital Citadel was being formed around it. It now also serves as housing for diplomats and a hosting space for grand parties.

Architecture

The Council Tower appears to be a typical stone tower but it's stonework is woven together with power arcane spellcraft that gives it the illusion of height and perfection. Its architecture matches the rest of the city's aesthetic but it certainly stands out due to the magic upon that makes it seen from anywhere in Philae

Defenses

Not much is known about the actual defenses of the Tower as no hostile force has made it far enough into Citadel let alone the Tower to actual warrant the use of its defenses. However one simple defense that is known to all within the city is that the illusion magic placed upon hides all windows and doors, giving the Tower the appearance of having virtually no entryway. Though there are guards posted around the base of the tower and therefore it is presumed they may be guarding a possible entrance.

The Empresses' Gaze

It is said that the Eternal Queen, Empress of the Heh'n Empire wakes up and gazes upon the Council Tower in the far northern sky, and day dreams of it's destruction. Her disdain for the nation Philae is unmatched and the Tower is a constant reminder that she has not claimed it's lands as her own...yet.
