Werebear

Werebears, (also known as Arctithropes, Bearmen, Oursgarou, and simply, Ursine,) are monsters found in the pine forests of Oshunmare. Bears are carnivorous mammals and werebears are no different.  

Werebear Classifications

There are eight classifications of werebears in Oshunmare.

Brown

Brown Bearmen are the most common type of werebear most adventurers meet. What they lack in individuality, they make up in strength. They generate Brown Magic.

Black

Black Bearmen are considerably stockier than their brown counterpart and can withstand devastating attacks. They generate Black Magic.

Cat-footed

Also known as Giant Panda Bearmen, they are symbols of duality and balance. They generate Duality Magic and can apply their skill with their paws.

Maritime

Maritime Bearmen, also known as Polar Bearmen are stronger swimmers than brown werebears. They also, to no surprise, generate ice magic.

Moon

Moon Bearmen have lunar powers and are Oshunmare standard on what a werebear should be. They generate lunar magic, and like werewolves, get more powerful at night when the moon is out. They are also known as white-chested bears since their chest glows most brightly at a full moon.

Sun

Sun Bearmen are the opposite of moon bears since they are most powerful in direct sunlight. They're also more accepted in cultures due to their disposition and how well they blend in with humans. They are considered rivals to Moon bears because of this dichotomy

Spectacle

Spectacle Bearmen have markings on their eyes, which makes them more perceptive than the average werebear. They also generate psionic energy and are what most deities favor in terms of monsters. Informally speaking, they have the knowledge and the power of the gods

Sloth

Sloth Bearmen take inspiration from sloths, both the mammal and the deadly sin. They're considered energy drainers, making people more lethargic, and can even comatose unfortunate adventurers.  

Mythical Classifications

There is only one mythical classification of werebear reported, the Cave Bear. Said to be extinct, Cave Bearmen are formed by making a deal with a spirit known as Onikuma. Those powers, I hear, can conquer towns with one look.
