Legend of the Oracle Cow

While it doesn't happen often, it's not unheard of that a simple beast is born Imbued. It can happen once every generation, and sometimes as many as three times in a single generation. The Wizard, Salem Asandromere, once recounted a story that has been passed on by the generations of such a cow. Her name was Penelope, and not only was she Imbued, she was capable of answering questions about the past, present, and future. Unfortunately, (and much to Salem's chagrin), she was rather vague about the future and claimed she couldn't speak in absolutes because the future wasn't carved in stone.
"After all," the cow said as she looked up at Salem with those big, sweet brown eyes of hers. It was hard to be ominous or even foreboding with eyes that sweet, but she soldiered on. "Actions are fluid and can change the course of history."
— Penelope, the Oracle Cow

It is suggested, as well, that Penelope predicted Salem's marriage to the Witch of the Woods, Kieryn Sigatha and the birth of at least two of his children. She also pointed out that he'd accidentally found a whole city (the Rim was barely a settlement when Salem passed on; he was never aware of such influence). Songs written in Penelope's honor also suggest to us that after Kieryn accepted his proposal, he sought the farmer who owned the cow, paid a handsome reward for her and took her home to the Tahl'Maran where she roamed out the rest of her days, eating buttercups and daisies, and entertaining adults and children alike with her wit and sarcasm as well as her uncanny understanding of history.
