This article is intended to offer advice and guide-lines for contributing to the wiki
The Wiki - Access
Welcome to the Orpheus Gaze / Dynasty wiki, hosted on World Anvil and with huge thanks to Ben Davies for providing access.
If you'd like to contribute, you'll need to speak to Ben D
Table of Contents
Where possible, try to divide your article up into sections, broken up with headings (see the H1,H2 or H3 buttons above). If you use the articletoc inside
then there will be a nice neat table of contents too which is very popular with your humble GM
Who or What Can I Write about?
So you can technically write about anything that's in the game universe that you want to providing that it hasn't already got an article (though you could offer some edits), that it is known to exist in the game universe and that it is historically significant enough to be mentioned
It used to be that only "heads of state" and other similarly important individuals got articles. However, with the growth of the game and the wiki, I've allowed non heads of state to get their own articles. But please don't clutter up the joint by writing about every single character who ever lived in the game!
Much more useful are articles about places, things and organizations, especially if you were closely involved in setting up that organization.
The Truth is Important
The most important rule for the Wiki is that everything posted here must be either canonically true, be accepted as common fact or be presented as a clear opinion or quote of an in-universe fact
As an exception, certain articles can be out of character but I'd rather keep these to a minimum
In universe fiction has slightly lighter rules around it. Speak to Rich about them
Editorial Slant
As the Wiki is presented as canonically true, its really important to, wherever possible, avoid editorial bias. Try to present articles in as factual a way as possible. Try to think about what historians would say about someone rather than what you personally experienced and remember that some events wouldn't really be known about or even considered to have truly happened
Try to avoid making attacks against anyone in the game universe in an article unless they are vitally necessary to tell the story and are presented as a clear quote.
Never ever make comments about real world people or their motives in an article. That's way outside of what this wiki is for and bad form
Tone of Voice
The wiki should be written in a neutral, past tense tone of voice wherever possible to avoid the need to later amend things. Wherever possible, try to find the date that events happen to make the story easier to follow.
If you want to give opinions on events or characters, then attribute them to an NPC. If there's not a famous or named relevant NPC, then put in an academic or historian to give the quote.
Still, try to avoid too many quotes if you can. The wiki should come across as even handed wherever possible.
Hyperlink When You Can
Try to make use wherever you can of hyperlinks. Use the @ symbol and then the name of the article you're linking in where you know there is one.
It's also possible to edit the beginning of the hyperlink string to change the word that will be the hyperlink.
Thank you for Contributing
Finally thank you so much for contributing to the wiki. Orpheus Gaze is a game made so much better by the contributions of the players and I like to give players a chance to share their experiences of the game. The wiki is a great tool for this
