This article sums up the period of 2620 to the present, in the period after the end of the 3rd Dhau War.

2620- Strikes and Chaos

2620--Vice President Wren Dando (ONX) is elected President of the Republic, defeating Senator Julianna Knottman (SDP).

She appoints a broadly conservative government, which includes Heart of Terra, Onyx and the RCP.

President Dando organizes a state visit to the Tazzyn Empire, along with Foreign Secretary Camilla Navarro.

There are protests, which turn into violence, on New Berlin as protesters call the election of Governor Madolyn Weston (IND) illegal.

Governor Weston asks her Attorney General on New Berlin to appoint a special prosecutor to investigate.

Former Intelligence Secretary Derrien Lewis (HOT) is formally charged with "failing to control classified documents." He is sentenced to two years in prison.

Senator Saadiq al Abdo (IMP) is elected as the new chair of the Senate oversight committee, replacing Senator Connie Baxter (SDP).

The Republic Navy reinforces the Vodhyna Task Force, increasing the basic tonnage of the fleet, whilst keeping numbers the same.

2621- The Salborians and the CCN powers agree a peace treaty, with the borders returning to the pre-war state.

President Dando and her team visit the Tazzyn home-world and meet the Tazzyn Emperor and his court.

Foreign Secretary Navarro meets with many leaders to try to arrange "a customs union" between the powers.

There are major labour strikes on New Berlin as unions call their workers to cease work until Governor Weston is removed from office. They reject the verdict of the local special prosecutor.

Attorney General Sharpur Visantti (ONX) sends a Federal prosecutor to investigate but he reports that he found "no proof of any Federal crimes".

As a result of this, KA call for Attorney General Vishantti to resign his office. He refuses to do so.

The GA narrowly rejects a bid to impanel a Select Committee hearing into alleged election interference by Onyx.

There is a terrorist attack in Cydonia City against Sarissa Arms HQ. 200 people were killed and over a thousand are wounded. Burning Path takes credit for the attack.

2622 - A combined force of Martian Marines, Olympic City police and Red Dagger Special Forces troops made raids against Burning Path Cells on Mars. Dozens of arrests were made.

The Republic Marine Corps deploys 125,000 marines to Nova Terra to carry out peace keeping operations and prevent violence between Burning Path and Technocratic militia.

There are more strikes on New Berlin and threats of a general strike, backed by the leaders of KA, SDP and VPP, though the moderate wing of the SDP balks at the idea.

In a first in the Republic, VPP and SDP "filibuster" the Republic budget. Rather than invoke a cloture motion, Onyx move a continuing resolution to keep the Federal government open. The market is shocked by this unprecedented political move.

Attorney General Vishantti appoints a Federal special prosecutor, Elie Posternn, to investigate the matter on New Berlin.

2623 - Allegations of voter suppression and violence continue to swirl around Governor Madolyn Weston (IND) who rejects calls to resign her office.

The VPP calls for a national tax strike in a move that is considered "potentially illegal". Hundreds of people refuse to pay Federal taxes and are arrested, with some even facing short jail terms

Marines on peace-keeping operations on Nova Terra come under fire from snipers and suffer losses across the deployment.

Onyx reject further calls for a Select Committee hearing and the opposition party's, in turn, refuse to cooperate on any votes. stalling the Republic legislature.

Republic Marines intervened in an "attempted massacre" on Nova Terra, exchanging fire with militia and suffering casualties.

2624 - Operation Winter Belle, the peace-keeping operation on Nova Terra, comes to an end with the warring factions now safely separated. Ten marines were killed and another fifty wounded during the operation that helped to bring to an end a near decade long local conflict on Nova Terra.

A civil war in Vatu space is confirmed as a clash between two Vatu clans escalates into fighting on more than nine worlds.

The Republic signs trade agreements with the several major powers as the proposed Customs Union comes together.

2625 -The Senate Oversight Committee begins investigations into the Dando government regarding alleged tampering in the 2620 election. During testimony, several members of the Canazarro administration claim that they were "unaware of changes" being made that affected voting rights.

The General Assembly vote to impanel a Select Committee hearing as a result of the testimony given in the Senate Oversight Hearings.

President Dando signs Executive Order 210, which would make it impossible for the GA to filibuster the budget. The GA later votes to overturn this Executive Order.

A class action law suit was lodged by Athens based law firm “Klay, Winchester & Pariadis” claiming that the use of so called “psionic detectors in downports” constitute an illegal search and turned psionics into a “suspect class”.

The AI colony of Calico was formally inducted into the Republic.

2626 - The General Assembly passes a budget that includes 11 billion adjusted dollars allocated to a "Federal Provision of healthcare". This massive expansion of Federal services was a key part of President Dando's campaign and is seen as a flagship policy for the President.

The Senate Judiciary Committee begins hearings into the "Moreland Affair", investigating allegations of espionage and treason by Duchess Lysa Moreland.

The Supreme Court rules, in the case of Caradine v Dhaka Downport that the deployment of psionic detectors is unlawful.

The AI colony of Mirador was formally inducted into the Republic.

Lawyers on behalf of several firms based on Earth and the Jovian belt began class action law suit to overturn an executive order from the Martian government blocking the deployment of a Sol star-gate.

2627 - There is an outbreak of a particularly virulent disease, referred to as "Bleeker Virus" on Skerrit's World. The local healthcare infrastructure is unable to properly contain it and the Governor calls for a state of emergency. The Dept of the Interior calls for a quarantine of the planet and aid, including assistance from the Republic Marine Corps, are deployed to the planet.

The Senate Oversight Committee hands down its conclusions from its investigation into the allegations of election tampering. In a very critical verdict, the committee accused the Dando and Canazarro governments of misleading the legislature, gerrymandering via a backdoor, failure to inform senior cabinet and a lack of operational grip. It also accused the government of instituting a "cover up on a massive scale."

The committee called on the Dept of Justice to appoint a special prosecutor on the matter.

2628 - The Bleeker Virus is successfully contained on Skerrit's World, with a death toll of 305,000 and significant disruption to the local economy. However, experts hail the swift thinking and action by the Dept of Health and the Dept of the Interior.

Nicklas Leonhardsen (IMP) is elected as the new Governor of Vanheim, ending 20 years of Frelsi Vanheim control of the planet.

The Supreme Court rules, in the case of Yeager v Martian Government, that stargates can be built in the Sol system, as long as they are not built in orbital range of Mars.

2629 - There are a series of Select Committee hearings about the actions of the Canazarro and Dando governments, which results in a recommendation that both President's are censured.

There is a major Supreme Court rulling in the case of Winterton v Federal Election Commission means that unlimited funds can be spent on gubernational elections. This is then followed up by the decision in Pruiitt V New Corinth Government which means that party's can no longer withdraw from only one race on a planet but would, instead, have to withdraw from all Senate and gubernational races.

2630 - The 2630 Presidential election sees Senator President Connor Williams win the Presidency in an incredibly narrow result in the second ballot against Senator Elsa Elkholm of Heart of Terra. However, the National Patriotic List wins the majority in the General Assembly, which looks set to create an incredibly challenging political environment.

The SDP is able to form a majority coalition by peeling away Onyx from the National Patriotic list. The price is that Onyx holds two of the big four cabinet roles.

The government of New Berlin, led by the authoritarian New German Republican party cancel the 2630 elections and hold onto power, creating a crisis. This prompts a "counter-coup" launched by the planet's military, the Federal Guard, and New Berlin slips into a civil war.

2631 - President Williams successfully passes his budget, which expands the Federal Healthcare provision. This is done over strong resistance from Heart of Terra.

President Williams suspends all federal aid to New Berlin and then increases the Marine deployment to the planet to protect Federal personnel and property.

Burning Path assassinate several Rangers in Arcadia City on St Lawrence . This prompts condemnation by the Rangers and Governor Charis Moreland (ALX).

2632 - The Republic's legislature passes the New Berlin Security Act, giving the government the authority to deploy troops to New Berlin for peace-keeping. 100,000 marines are deployed on Operation Grandstand, with another 100,000 in reserve. Their mission is to stop the fighting between the Bunde-Schutzen and the Federal Guard.

There are a series of terrorist attacks on Nova Terra and Governor Clayton Scott (VPP) puts the planet onto high alert. The violence, which looked set to escalate, dies down almost as fast as it began. This follows the deployment of 10,000 Republic Marines to Nova Terra to protect Federal personnel and property.

2633 - Skirmishing between the rival factions on New Berlin continues as the peace-keeping force deploys wider to prevent the blood-shed. According to local sources, the death-toll on New Berlin has already passed one hundred thousand.

The RFP makes a series of highly effective raids against Torment on Whitworth, arresting twenty five members of the criminal organisation and seizing more than seven billion adjusted dollars in narcotics and weapons.

The Terran Republic votes to extend its treaty with the Dhau Empire on Vodhyna by fifteen years. This measure passes in the senate with unanimous support.

2634 - There is a major shutdown of the Tranoan stargate network. The Tranoan Empire claim this is due to scheduled upgrades and repairs. The stargate corporation CATS states that there is "no cause for any concern."

The Republic agrees to extend Tazzyn basing rights on New Carthage by twenty-five years but all other bases will revert to the Republic by 2640. This will see the Tazzyn bases removed from all other Terran worlds after nearly a century of a Tazzyn military presence.

The Republic's legislature votes to bring in national service, citing the need to "be prepared for a future war". It offers several routes for service, including non military civil service.
