Notable Events and Contracts

2585 - Starlight Mining secured an exclusive mining contract for the system of San Domingo with the stipulation in its contract that a payments would be made to a Soverign wealth fund for the planet.   2585 - Secured an exclusive mining contract for the world and system of Leander, with Empyreal proving ancilary services.   2590 - Starlight Mining completed a buyout of CMC, taking over all their contracts, sites and inheriting their fleet of Dozers, ships and infrastructure. The buy out, thought to have cost around 18 billion adjusted dollars, sees the operations of CMC merged into those of Starlight Mining.   According to promient business sources in Cydonia at the time, FDC had made an attempt to buy out CMC but Starlight Mining managed to get the inside track. As a part of their buy out, they purchased the shares of House Dutton, House Corvo and a Martian hedge fund to own 100% of the new corporation. The takeover was personally financed by House Moreland.   2595 - Development began at a Whennice site in 2590 and was completed in 2595.   Participated in the "Worlds Fair" on New Carthage, from just outside the capital city of New Rhodes.   The fair, designed to showcase innovation and to serve as a reminder of the "critical role that the hansa plays within the Republic" saw booths, displays, huge events and give aways of all sorts by the gathered corporations.   Many top CEOs also made appearances at the fair which was free to enter and saw hundreds of millions of adjusted dollars worth of freebies given away.   The exhibitions also were a chance for workers to look for new jobs, with recruiters there from all the major corporations.   Sevoy Panikkar, CEO of Empyreal Entertainment and the principal organizer of the fair, spoke of the value that the Hansa adds to the Republic and that "we understand that people have concerns but it's not quite the way that we are sometimes portrayed. The Hansa provides jobs, quality produts and services and underpins the economy of the Republic. Aged 45 - Former VP for Strategy. Viewed as a young gun corporate insider with a rapid rise up the ranks. Publicly stated a wish to revolutionize the mining industry with far more automation and use of nanite technology. Noted by corperate watchers as not a people person, but hugely skillful with an expirenced team behind him.   Secured an exclusive mining contract for the world and system of First Light.   2610 - Against a background of a challenging market which saw massively increasing costs for insurance and transportation in the mining industry Starlight Mining managed to acheive marginal growth.
