Githyanki
Githyanki are one of two divisions of the gith race. Once they had defeated the illithids, the gith disagreed on how to proceed. The githyanki followed the lich-queen Vlaakith into the Astral Plane. Today, they are murderous raiders that sail the Astral Sea, seeking out illithid outposts and destroying any travellers unlucky enough to stumble across their path.
Because mortals do not age on the Astral Plane, githyanki maintain small, secret settlements for raising their young.
It is uncommon to see githyanki among other mortals, and almost unheard-of to see other mortals among the githyanki.

Languages. Githyanki society expends energy only on what is necessary to make war. You know Common and Gith.
Martial Prodigy. Githyanki society instills martial training in all its children. You are proficient with light and medium armor and with shortswords, longswords, and greatswords.
Githyanki Psionics. All gith retain a measure of psionic ability from their ancestors' enslavement to the illithids. Over the centuries, they have grown the abilities and have learned to teach them to others, though they rarely do. As a githyanki, you know the mage hand cantrip, and the hand is invisible when you cast the cantrip with this trait. When you reach 3rd level, you can cast the jump spell with this trait and you regain the ability to do so when you finish a long rest. When you reach 5th level, you can canst the misty step spell once with this trait and you regain the ability to do so when you finish a long rest. Intelligence is your spellcasting ability for these spells. When you cast them with this trait, they require no material components.
