Deep Elf
When Lolth raised an insurrection against the Fey courts, she took refuge in the newly-opened Prime Material. The archfey banished her to the Abyss, but her followers would not accept defeat. They travelled deep under the earth and built cities in the dark caverns, seeking out Abyssal portals. Their devotion raised her to godhood, and Lolth-worship became a central tenet of their society.
These followers of Lolth became known as deep elves.
When the Far Realm invaded, they came through the Underdark. Deep elven cities were the first hit and the last saved. Only in the last eighty or so years have deep elves become a common sight on the surface world.
