Session 3

General Summary

PLAYERS DREAM DURING LONG REST (start of session)

LYKALADA'ATH Limbo
"You hear the roar of a dragon, no, many dragons in the distance. "Let's hope not" a dark female voice intones. A flash of grey light, than a feeling of floating. CRASH. Elements of rock, and magma, and water, and ice colliding all around you, green, red, and blue skilled creatures lumbering from floating precipice to floating precipice toward a massive stone pillar lit from within. Another flash, then a metallic looking citadel, glimmering in the grey mist, lightning flashing around it. A green figure sits meditating at the tallest peak. He looks up in your direction. "Maybe, eventually," the voice murmurs. CRACK. A thunderwave hits you and blue sparks fly up. Your arm aches. CRACK. Whispers, a language you don't understand, that feeling again of your blood boiling in a combat rage. More sparks, the room is dark, only the glow of the forge illuminating a wicked looking hammer, poisoned in the air to strike once more. The image fades. "No, not yet boy, but perhaps soon." "
VRAE
"You rest uneasy, tossing and turning, anger coursing through you. With a golden flash you find yourself in the well-known marble chamber, your halberd held before you, the last line of defense for the Carafe behind you. A strike, blocked, you turn the movement to your advantage and the foe goes down. You feel a rage burning within you. Betrayal. Trust broken. You block another blow, screaming in bloodlust, and look up to see T'Nin standing before you, the chain of his Kusarigama wrapped around your weapon. You pull with all your might, twirling as the chained weapon flies out of his hands and sails across the room. You move to stab him, and find the point of your halbert at Renard's throat. He smiles wickedly. You've never seen him look like that before. "The Mind Palace took you.... You are lost," he whispers, as he smacks your weapon aside, and you see his gauntleted fist coming toward your face. Your eyes flash open. Only a dream."
MAK'TI
"You find yourself floating over a land covered in fog, so thick you can only just make out the ruins of once-grand buildings below. You soar across the land, passing the borders of the mist and sailing over a massive continent you've never been to, then an ocean, approaching yet more mists, and what look like war galleys, sails taut in the wind, carrying what look like metal constructs, soldiers by the looks of it, across the mist covered sea. Your vision turns white, then into a scene of one of the metal warriors... no, this one looks to be made of wood... with one blue eye that seems to have a life of its own. He is speaking to a dragonborn who is handing him a parchment with a very familiar looking mark on it. You look down but find your physical form is not there, you cannot check to be sure its the same. Another flash, blue this time, and once again you see the vision that brought about your exile. Your home burning. The ghastly dark battling the heroic blue in the foreground, the glowing book and the dagger below them, the Tower poised to doom Lumengrad. With a start, you awake, chest burning. You have a feeling you know why."
  T'NIN
"You stand before a fortress, no, a citadel in the clouds. You know this place, you've defended this place. You hold a scimitar at the ready, watching the hordes of tiny elemental creatures of ice, dust and smoke charge. You look to your sides, flanked by dozens of other Air Genasi of your troop. "The little shits don't stand a chance," one of your allies states. You smile. You feel a kind of tearing at your mind, feel the sweet rush of the Rogue Dust going up your nose... and then the sound of children's voices, a woman begging you not to leave, all of them familiar, yet not. A friendly face that brings a snarl to your lips. You inhale, feeling your muscles enhanced by the drug. Your room in the monastery, that feeling again of confusion, and loss, and panic. You hear Gaerfire's words about "the floating kingdom above the Alah Sea." A strange vortex in the clouds, tinged with pale blue, evident even amongst the bright sky. That rush once more as the powder hits your septum... Falling through the sky, helpless, lost, the ground rushing up. The calming touch of a Monk's hand on your shoulder. "The current flows through you as well." Opening a wooden crate to find a gift from the monks, the Kusarigama. "You will always be one of us." Training. Blood. Exhaustion. More blood. Feeling the Dust coursing through your veins. The need. The yearning....CAW! You come to feeling the hard wood of the patio bench against your back. A pair of gulls fly above in the night sky, circling the town and then heading back toward the harbor."
  • T'nin rolls Addiction Save during LONG REST, fails (-1 CON all day)
BORD
"You're in an arena, massive; have you been here before? No. But you've seen ones like this. You look around, every seat in the place is taken. You hear music start, strumming on a lute, the soft boom of a drum, the melodic warble of a birdpipe. You think "De must be preddy good, ya?" You turn toward the stage and see a single musician. His clawed talons are tapping the drum, his black feathered wings playing the guitar, while a wooden frame held together with twine is holding the birdpipes close to his beak. With a shock you realize, "Its Bord Agatta! Ah Man, he's the best!" But wait! That cannot be right. Not the part about being the best, you believe that with all your heart. But that can't be Bord. You're Bord! Well, not like "bored," I mean the music's pretty good, and how often do you really get to go out and just enjoy the arts... You shake away the superfluous thought, and shout "Imposter!" Without a moment's hesitation you pull out your pistol, take aim, and fire at the bard on the stage. The birdpipe shatters into splinters as the rocketing lead plows through it, past the performer's beak, and buries itself deep within his cranium. His body drops, the guitar clattering to the floor. You wince as you hear strings snap. A hush falls over the crowd. You look around and realize every person in the stadium is faceless, their features hidden within the deep black depths of crimson robes. A chant begins, "Bring him back. Bring him back. Bring him back." You flee, barreling down the aisle and into the empty foyer, where a red-skinned Tiefling smiles at you, dangling a small sack with little flecks of white powder falling to the ground. You shout "No time!" and run right past him, as the sound of hundreds of footsteps can be heard approaching from the theater... You slow down. "Well maybe." You run back, legs pumping up and down as you hand him 3 gold pieces and he drops the bag into your open palm. "Nice doing business with-AHH" you grab the Tiefling and toss him to the ground in front of the doorway, hoping his body might trip your pursuers. You burst out the main doors and leap up to take flight... and fall flat on your face. You look up to find Mak'Ti and Vrae sitting at a wooden table, furiously writing on parchment after parchment, dipping their quills into ink over and over again, and tossing them into a nearby fireplace after each line.... wait, those quills! You see a bowl of black feathers between the two of them, and look down to find your wings have been completely plucked. POINK A flash of pain as Vrae rips another feather off your head. You grab the bowl and continue running, searching for refuge. You pass a shop, glancing inside to see Lykalada'ath (LIE-CALL-A-DAH-ATH) standing behind the counter, placing a bloody human hand on a hook, and affixing a price tag of 200 gold pieces on it. You run on, pass another shop whose window is full of some gelatinous dessert that is wiggling oddly. Inside, T'nin, wearing what looks like a chef's hat and an apron, is dumping a small bag, similar to the one you just bought, into the mix. He waves and shouts 'J'llo!" The mob is on the street now, they've spotted you. "Bring him back. Bring him back." You try to pick up speed. You run past your family, just barely hearing your father mutter "...at least with his wings plucked you can't see that stupid color, nor how freakishly big they are." You trip, everything slows down as you fall... and then time catches up as you land hard on a solid black metal floor. Dazed, you look around and see iron bars all around you. Your cage is suspended above a massive lake. In the distance, all around you from every shoreline, you hear the chanting continue, "Bring him back. Bring him back" You glance down at the lake, reflecting the obsidian black of the night sky, and you see something beneath the water's surface. An oval of glowing gold, with a circle of deep crimson red, almost black, in the middle, the whole thing bigger than any of the ships you've seen at the Twin Falls docks. The chanting stops. The silence is thick with nauseating fear. You cannot tear your gaze away from the thing in the water.... (wait a beat) It blinks. You wake up screaming in terror, Luna shoots up in her bed, looking down at you in shock."
