Top-Shelf Agriculture
Once Top-Shelf Agriculture was known as the Monsanto Company, a super-company controlling GMO crops and agrochemicals. Through the centuries Monsanto rose and fell, eventually rebranding itself as Top-Shelf Agriculture just prior to the corporate wars. By this point they'd bought stock in most other agricultural companies, so it took little effort for them to consolidate into one mega-company.
Top-Shelf Agriculture was one of the first to crack low-light deep space agriculture. It was only natural. In time they became indispensable. None of the other corporations particularly like Top-Shelf Agriculture, but all of them recognize just how important the corporation is to human expansion. The corporation controls 88.7% of all food production in the solar system. They pander to the masses more than any other corporation. They purchase commercial space in every other corporation's media network, making them the most popular corporation in the New Economic Block. As such Top-Shelf Agriculture may be #4 on the Corporate Board, but they have an astounding amount of political power.
Top-Shelf Agriculture firmly believes that bread and circuses are the keys to power. Their food is sweet, their lies sugary, and absolutely NOTHING must keep them from losing face... especially not employees. While normally Top-Shelf Agriculture would be happy to have hybrids and GLAs as customers, Top-Shelf Agriculture runs the hardest line against them. They pander to the scared, intolerant populace in order to boost their reputation. They can be considered the architects of most anti-GLA laws, and they employ the greatest number of GLA/hybrid slaves.
