Most Freelancer companies are tight-knit, relatively small, barely riding the edge of solvency. The Spindledogs do not fit this classification. The Spindledogs are split into two teams, each with about 50 members; they all answer to an ex-Typhoon Initiative cleaner, Amz Kaspar. They are well-supplied and well-armed, exquisitely trained, and absolutely ruthless. Their word is their bond, but the big question about the Spindledogs is who they gave their word to first- because it isn't uncommon for the Spindledogs to take a contract requesting them to lie to others. Once a contract is fulfilled the Spindledogs will release the full text of their original contract, and so they maintain their reputation as (ultimately) trustworthy.
The mercenary band may be split into two teams, but the teams never ever split the job unless required to by their employer. The band is often employed to take space stations or powerful ships. Their standard MO is for aggressive boarding tactics with their ram-transports. Each Spindledog has their own area of expertise but they are vigorously cross-trained by their teammates. This gives them extraordinary flexibility on the job. Spindledogs have been observed fighting with melee weapons, jury-rigged 'MBWs' (Mobile Boarding Walls), and claymore-mouse drones. They employ at least three AIs with ACE chassis, several Uplifts and Hybrids, and even a partially-lobotomized Torque named Misters Crumpeter.
The Spindledogs retain close ties to the Typhoon Initiative, and the corporation may indeed provide them with much of their advanced equipment. It is telling that they don't try to hide that they take NEB jobs, which has cost them lucrative Neo-Human contracts. They are most famous for their capture and sterilization of the Noreas, a Polevik Arcology light cruiser. Unbeknownst to practically everyone, the radicals had crudely converted it into something that could be classified as a pocket battleship. The Noreas was then duly delivered to the free-station Gunnartown- a testament to their trustworthiness, as the Noreas was now worth far more money than their contract.
