Small Uplfit

"The uplift program originally started with the 'workhorse' animals, medium sized canines.  It took a considerable effort by the 'cat fancier' lobby to make their case to expand the scope of the project.  To be honest, we buckled over the cats, but used it as an excuse for the raccoons.  The number of startlingly talented raccoon uplifts is a testament to our vision." -Doctor Beryl Benjamin   The least common of the uplifts, Small Uplifts are almost exclusively predatory mammals under 50 lbs (23 kilos). Most are all but useless in combat thanks to their small frames and limited natural weapons, but make up for it in other ways.   Examples: Housecat, Small dog (Pug), Wolverine   Ability Bonuses: Agility +d2, Awareness +d2   Skill Bonuses: Covert +d2, Survival +d2, Influence +d2   Base Movement: 30 feet   Additional Advantages:
  • Sharp Sense: d2 / d2 (your choice which two senses)
  • Lady Luck: d4
  Optional Species Disadvantages:
  • Thumbless: d6
Most of neo-human space has accessibility options for uplifts, but your character runs into problems more often than others. Maybe you can’t attach servo-arms or run drones, or you’re stuck in space that isn’t uplift friendly. This is primarily an RPing Disadvantage, but if the DM decides that thumbs are necessary for a task, they may add 6 to the difficulty of the roll.
  • Noncombatant: d2-d6
Your frame makes you spectacularly unfit for combat. Though you can defend yourself easily enough, you’re not likely going to be slitting throats anytime soon. Add your Trait die to the difficulty of any combat action.
  • Lapdog: d2+
Designed from pet stock, the instinct to please your friends, allies, and employers has never left you. Primarily a roleplaying trait, this may add the Trait die in difficulty to any actions taken that would displease your chosen allies.
