Large Uplift
"The first large uplifts were actually horses, but problems with the hybridization and uplifting process caused the gene-line to die out. Fast forward a few decades and the first uplift geneticists got their hands on the research and thought 'why not'?. Well, there's a million reasons 'why not', such as the Massacre of Point Macron, but that's besides the point. The kinks wee ironed out, the Block tried to enslave the result, and yet another seed of rebellion was sewn." -Doctor Beryl Benjamin
Once very uncommon, Neo-Human uplifts quickly began uplifting the larger Earth animals. These are any uplifts of size larger than 200 lbs (90 kilos). Most large uplifts are highly prized as fighters and have commanding presences, backed up by millennia of human veneration.
Examples: Grizzly Bear, Gorilla, Tiger
Ability Bonuses: Vitality +d2, Strength +d2
Skill Bonuses: Unarmed Attack +d2, Influence +d2, Performance +d2
Base Movement: 20 feet
Additional Advantages:
- Tough: d4
- Natural Weapons: d4
This trait represents the natural weapons of the Uplift. These may include claws, crushing teeth, tusks, or vicious kicks. All unarmed attacks deal Basic damage and add the Trait die to damage. This trait may be split to represent different weapons; for instance a gorilla may have a d4 grip attack, but a tiger may have d2 in Bite and d2 in Claws.
- Thumbless: d6
Most of neo-human space has accessibility options for uplifts, but your character runs into problems more often than others. Maybe you can’t attach servo-arms or run drones, or you’re stuck in space that isn’t uplift friendly. This is primarily an RPing Disadvantage, but if the DM decides that thumbs are necessary for a task, they may add 6 to the difficulty of the roll. - Blood Frenzy: d2-d6
The largest uplifts were created to function as soldiers and leaders, in that order. Most are prone to violent outbursts, especially when hurt. Whenever the character receives damage, the character increases the difficulty of non-offensive actions by their Trait die. - Alpha: d2+
As the biggest, you HAVE to be the baddest and the one in charge. If you’re not, it weighs heavily on your psyche. Primarily a roleplaying trait, this may also add the Trait die in difficulty to any actions taken when there’s problems in the command chain- IE, you’re not at the top of it.
