After that everyone realized that she wasn't some simpering kitten waltzing through De Mairan society: she was a tiger with very sharp fangs. The Lady Messier is an unknown quantity. It's clear by her surname, mannerisms and familiarity with obscure De Mairan custom she's of noble birth, likely from one of the original founding families. Nobody can quite place which family or what scion. Nobody's even really sure if the Lady Messier has a first name, as all records are expunged. She spent most of her early years dancing the slow, intricate dance of De Marain political life until the Eclipse Ball.
Her assassination of the Dyson Energy-backed traitor made it clear that the Lady Messier works for the Jeweled Diadem. Shocked conversations revealed that the Lady Messier served as a Couer Saphir, a public member of the Jeweled Diadem's secret police. Throughout the course of the Eclipse Ball she let it become known that yes, she was a spy; yes, she was operating in public; and why, yes, she WAS aware of that little impropriety uttered last week...
In her capacity as a Couer Saphir, the Lady Messier is in charge of cutting out the rot of the De Mairan courts. Her mere presence can chill the heart of any party, though she is a superb dinner guest and a capable ambassador. The Lady Messier is also a talented assassin and duelist, equally at home with blade, combat drone, or high-powered rifle. She is particularly fond of challenging dinner guests to archaic swordfight duels. The challenged finds themselves backed into a corner and most accept; if they live, they know the Couer Saphir have given them a warning. If the Lady Messier runs you through, then your schemes are at an end.
