Jagjit Faraz
(a.k.a. Pardon)
"I don't hang around Covenant space, and Jagjit is the main reason why. He's a pretty nice guy for a holy man- a great conversationalist, a pretty good shot, and you just can't beat his tracking skills. After my first mission with him I really started wondering: why is this guy a freelancer? Rather than asking him I had a good long think, like he always tells me to do, and the answer is: they forced him out. Jagjit is everything the Covenant should be, but isn't. He's the best of them, and for that he's been exiled from his friends and faith. I don't want anything to do with anyone who'd throw this man to the wolves." ~Chevalier Sikkah Notte

Personal history
Jagjit was born into the Covenant Progeniture, taking part in the Covenant when he was a small child. He rose to the priesthood just as there was a wave of evangelic sentiment in the religion, leading him to take the theological stance that all creatures from Earth were inheritors of the Living Blood and thus brothers in the faith. This radical though persisted just long enough for Jagjit to reach adulthood and head out for the rim of Covenant space as an itinerant preacher. He eventually settled on the colony world Reselvet, where he eventually converted 83% of the populace.
Tragedy struck when Reselvet's sun entered a brutal sunspot cycle that threatened to scour the colony clean. Jagjit managed to coordinate with Covenant forces to transport the colony to another viable planet, only to find his religion had gone through another violent paroxysm. The unconverted would not be saved. They would be either left on Reselvet or thrown out the airlock. Enraged, Jagjit used all of his cunning oratory and theological arguments to batter the Covenant relief team into something approaching submission- at least until they took off. He was confined to a brig, the unbelievers in his flock executed, and his fate uncertain- he was, in their eyes, a heretic. But since Jagjit was undeniably one of the Blood, his captors couldn't just kill him despite his heresy. Jagjit was marooned on the jungle planet Hansu instead.
A lifetime of self-inflicted privation and training had not gone to waste. Jagjit stayed alive, scavenging from the pieces of an abandoned colony and a wrecked ship. Three years later a Freelancer explorer located a cobbled-together beacon and rescued him from Hansu. Jagjit had nowhere to go but to try to carve a life for himself in the interstices of space. He found his time on Hansu had made him a passable shot and an experienced tracker, and so in keeping with his pacifist principles he became a bounty hunter, specializing in taking his targets alive.
Education
Jagjit was trained in a Covenant Progeniture seminary. His technical skills are few but he is very much a people person; even his captured bounties have a hard time disliking him.
Notable skills: Guns [Nonlethal]; Influence [Conflict Management]
Secondary Skills: Survival [Jungle Worlds]; Survival [Tracking]
Employment
Jagjit is most active on the edges of Covenant Progeniture space. He is the person of choice when you absolutely need someone alive and unharmed. The only reason his Freelancer Reliability Index is 'only' a 0.68 is because he has been known to release bounties if he finds they're meant to be tortured or otherwise brutalized upon delivery; a swift death is apparently acceptable. Jagjit has turned in a total of 38 bounties.
Last contract: Took on a bounty hunting contract for a mass-murderer who had gunned down, eviscerated, or burned alive three dozen civilians at a barn party on Nestor VI. Tracked mass-murderer across three star systems, eventually leading into Shung space. Successfully egotiated with a Shung commander for free use of Shung gatedrives and naval resources to cut off the fleeing mark's escape routes. Engaged in a four hour long firefight with murderer on Ming Station before finally incapacitating him with a sticky-grenade. Returned murderer for justice on Nestor VI, where the murderer was given a trial and then hanged.
