Orion Spur

2029, First live camera feed of the recently confirmed Planet X, now renamed Janus. The whole world stands united to see this spectacular sight and are stunned to see the planet covered in obviously synthetic architecture and geography, massive ziggurats and spires with an uncomfortably biological appearance. The probe flies low and enters low orbit, seeing the landscape inactive and still, but as it gets closer, activity bursts on the planet far below, a ziggurat opening and gargantuan tentacles lash out and strike the probe, sending it to static, the newscasters stunned and the feed quickly is cut to colored bars. Everyone around is unsure of how to react, confirmation of alien life out in the universe, and decidedly hostile ones at that. Its only minutes until the skies darken and the invasion starts.
