Orienta in the 3rd Century

Over two centuries have now passed since the Human Rebellion cast down the Elven Kingdoms of Lorintha and Halentha. Led by Alerio, once a slave of no distinction, the rising swept away the old dominion in fire and chains. In its place the Imperial League was declared, a fledgling order that promised unity and deliverance from servitude. Yet the Elves, exiled across the southern seas, did not relinquish their inheritance willingly, and their designs linger still.   The promise of the League was short-lived. In 12 IE the capital of Skyreach was annihilated in a blast of sorcery unequalled in the memory of mortals. Alerio, his house, and near a million souls perished, and with them the foundation of Imperial unity. From that day the League collapsed into warring successor states, each raising its own banners and laying claim to the Imperial Mandate.   Now, in 202 IE, the Grand Duchy of Novaya and the Holzreich remain locked in a brutal contest along the Frontier, their war defined by attrition, winter, and the slow ruin of men. The City States of the Velvet Coast endure in a theatre of intrigue, where Houses barter ships, mercenaries, and assassins, invoking the dream of the League only when it serves their renown. In Siarland, ancient ties to the Elven crowns contend with the sovereignty of the new Kingdom, and across the southern waters the exiles whisper of return, though their quarrels run as deep as those of mankind.   Thus the continent persists, torn between the legacy of what was lost and the ambitions of what may yet be claimed. Two hundred and two years into the Imperial Era, Orienta remains unsettled, its fate undecided, and its future as uncertain as the day the League first fell.
