  The largest settlement in Orias, Ik'the is the heart of education on the continent. Boasting three universities and plentiful resources, this city of the Jakr region is, at least on the surface, as near to a utopia as one could find.  

University of Ik'the

The biggest of the three universities, The UoI accepts the vast majority of students in the city. With a wide range of courses, it is typically the best (and only) choice for most people to attend in order to enter their selected profession. Most courses last for approximately 2 years, with the exception of combat-focused plans, which include an additional 2 years of field work, at least one fully supervised by the university's instructors.  

Arcane Development University

The second largest university, the ADU is situated in the west of the city, near Lake Kui'mar. Students here make the study of magical enhancements their primary focus, researching and developing techniques in which magic can be used to improve quality of life, or to produce more powerful weapons. Arguably the greatest breakthrough the ADU had was the introduction of Thaumcrafts, everyday items imbued with spells in a complex process coined as thaumancy, in order to provide a particular function.  

Arcane and Non-Pareil Trade Institution

The smallest university, ANTI is vastly different to the other places of education. Focusing on the study of the geological, those who attend this university effectively do so in order to join the trade union, and become a full-time researcher for them. ANTI offers one course, it's researcher path, but the amount of study required is greater than almost any course offered by the other institutions. Researchers select a number of modules to study on top of their required, which can include classes and instruction on combat, magical patterns, and (for some reason) the most popular, Political History of Orias. ANTI's chair justifies these extra courses with the explanation that knowing this additional background information could help to reason about the phenomena that are primarily investigated by the organisation.
