Eagoran

The Eagorans are a species believed by many to be a myth, a tree-dwelling species living only on the Island of Actiron and hiding from all other creatures but the Bellian Aerie and the non-sapient creatures living in the forest.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Anatomically, Eagora are very similar to human, simply having slightly smaller frames and a greenish tint to the skin.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Eagora typically eat the edible and unique plants found in the forests of Actiron, being a typically pacifist and therefore vegetarian race. While they typically forage for this food, they also have small hidden farms in case this source becomes too dangerous or scarce, and have large stores in the trunks of the trees in which they build their villages.

Additional Information

Social Structure

The Eagora live in one small community in the forests of Actiron and therefore have a closely knit, familial society in which all are seen as equals. Leaders are elected fairly, and respected, but not seen to have any further importance or higher standing than those who are simply civilians; every large decision is put to vote to a council of elected adults.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

The Eagora have heightened hearing and sight, being able to perceive movement and light just as clearly when the light is dimmed from heavy shade or the day turning to dusk, and being able to hear well from an extra 10 feet away compared to that of humans.

Naming Traditions

Eagoran first names are typically vowel-heavy, about eight or nine letters long, with only two or three of these being consonants. These names are also typically about three syllables at most when pronounced. A key difference between male and female first names is that while female names end in a vowel, male names always end in a consonant, and therefore typically have more consonants.

Major Organizations

The Council, the twenty-four elected adults who vote on all major decisions. Should they come to a tie, the leader of the council, otherwise known as the President, decides the tie-breaker. Eagora, the only remaining civilisation of Eagoran people; this is the reason for the blur between the Eagoran race and the Eagoran Culture.

Major Language Groups and Dialects

All Eagorans are taught Eagoran Astryan from an early age; alongside this, they learn Orcovian Common and Aerie Speak, to prepare for the event of being lost outside of Eagoran society.

History

The Eagoran race is one that existed purely within the treetop city of Eagora, on the Island of Astiron, hidden from all other people and races other than the Bellian Aerie folk. For centuries they remained hidden within this city, fearing any non-Eagoran people; this was only made worse when the Astryan Magic Ban was put into place and as a magic species the Eagoran people were outlawed. Even after this ban, however, the Eagorans remained hidden for decades- until the year 895, in which they were discovered, leading to the city, and the area of the forest in which it was built, being burned to ash with all known Eagoran people inside- with one, unknown, survivor.

Interspecies Relations and Assumptions

The Eagora species are a myth to most, dwelling only on the island of Actiron and unseen by an except the Aerie who live in Bellshade.
