Doctor Gerald Sterling is an old ORCA biologist, stationed at Hart Base. A veteran member of the organisation, he was nonetheless transferred there after they deemed his research not relevant enough (and even slightly opposed to their humanist ideology) to warrant a proper research post. Now he has a general purpose role advising on the magical creatures operatives and soldiers at the base may encounter, while privately furthering his own research in understanding them and how to kill them. While intelligent and good at his job, he is also cantankerous, stubborn and insensitive, and not many people like the old man. Furthermore, he is secretly a eugenicist and takes ORCA's ideals of human purity beyond that which the organisation officially sanctions. He is open in believing that magic users should be removed from the gene pool, but also quietly believes that so should the disabled and other groups of people he looks down upon.
