Colin Avery
Colin Avery is a young theoretical physicist and mathematician working for ORCA, stationed at Hart Base. He joined the organisation only recently and works on the underlying mathematics of magic, peer-reviewing research and hoping to make his own major discovery one day. He also helps more practically by analysing battlefield data (a task he dislikes) and teaching the basics of magic to new recruits and helping explain anything not understood. He is obsessively rational and refuses to believe in anything supernatural, dedicating his time to proving that everything supposedly magical can be explained with maths and science. For the same reason, he takes offense to being called a 'magical' or 'occult' mathematician, insisting his work is simply an esoteric branch of maths and physics.
