For most of the world, life is no different than yours or mine. They wake up in the morning, go about their days, than go back to sleep to begin the cycle anew. Every day, billions of people get to live normal, boring, and most importantly, (relatively) safe lives thanks to the watchful eye of the ORCA.
You see, strange things lurk in the dark corners of this world.
Anomalous objects, strange and otherworldly entities, tears in the fabric of space, artifacts of great and terrible power; you name it, the ORCA has probably seen it. Sometimes they need to handle threats capable of destroying the planet, other times they're dealing with a dime that always lands on its side when flipped. Regardless, keeping paranormal activity from the rest of the world is the primary goal of the ORCA as to keep humanity safe by keeping the anomalous out of the hands of nefarious parties.
The ORCA, or the Office for the Research and Containment of the Anomalous, is a worldwide force whose modus operandi includes the capture and containment of extranormal objects, organisms, locations, and phenomena with the goal of researching their anomalous properties. Research often ends merely with a further understanding of the item itself, but anomalies can have their uses as well. Most of the time, however, the anomalous world is treacherous and is never to be taken lightly.
Unfortunately, the ORCA isn't the only one aware of supernatural and other groups are quite as keen on keeping secrets as they. Some like the Society of the Gilded Bowerbird wish to keep the paranormal a secret, though for very different reasons. Others such as Big Bart's Bazaar of the Bizarre, however, want everybody to know about just how weird the world can be. Though most of these groups are at odds with the ORCA, they can't do much due to the organization's strong hold and major influence within the anomalous world.
So for now, so long as the ORCA is there to keep watch, life will stay normal, boring, and safe.
