Town Criers
In the Eastern Realms, be it in the Fortern Kingdom or the Dukedoms, some citizens can volunteer as Town Criers. They are deputies charged with public announcements selected by the governing body of their village or city. The informations dispensed are under the jurisdiction of the royalty and their governing nobles, so not everything is to be taken as truth. They are nonetheless an influential means of spreading information in a locale. Their purpose is spreading the news on popular forums to a large number of people at once, or anounncing the hours while patrolling the streets.
Career
Qualifications
Being able to read French or Imperial is a must, though French has become prioritized with Fortern's policy against anything the Demon Empire offered the Eastern Realms. Being articulate and eloquent are highly sought qualities. After all, Town criers have to address a lot of people at once.
Career Progression
Contrary to Orators in the Demon Empire, there is no progression in a Town Crier's carrier. It is a part-time job of sort, and they often have another job on the side.
Payment & Reimbursement
Town Criers are paid a little Summ by the State, one full day of shouting is enough to pay for a family's food for two days, less if the performance was insatisfactory.
Other Benefits
As Town Criers get access to the news earlier than most citizens, they enjoy the benefit of being well informed on world and local affairs, useful when something's about to happen and skedaddling is advised.
The Crier's bell is offered free of charge.
