King
The male ruler of a feudal Kingdom. The power is in the hands of a single individual, often coming into power hereditarily but sometimes elected or through a power grab. King is the most common of the titles of monarchical heads of state as most monarchies are traditionally led by the male heirs over the female heirs. Kings vary in their powers, some are overworked busybodies leading every aspect of their land while some mainly a symbolic head of state without much political power. Their power can be delegated to one or more ministers.
In the earlier days of the First Sending many claimed – truthfully or not – to have originally been nobles or kings in their past lives to argue in favor of their leadership. This poor legacy made the definition of king and queen subjective until more stable days finally came and lengthy dynasties could be established.
History
The title originates from the Old World where Kings were known to rule many lands. A few of the Human First Sent announced themselves as decendants of such rulers or even the rulers themselves. A claim hard to prove with no way back home, which only allowed the more capable swindlers and brutes to prove their cases regardless of actual evidence. Thus Kings and other national leaders popped up left and right throughout the continent causing many a conflict but giving an opportunity for the more adventurous to create competitive settlements. The realm most impacted by the title of king were the Eastern Realms, its lands filled with very small Kingdoms. Hegemonies formed that created more powerful alternatives and ended up adopting the title more properly. With the advent of the Francia Empire, Kings retained their rank but became subservient to a single Emperor or Empress, a situation that didn't last overly long. The betrayal of the Kings and their bickering which split their territories back into small chunks left deep memories into the realms' collective psyche. Kings and Queens are now revered titles only afforded to sufficiently sized realms.Qualifications
Not dying upon being born. Not getting dishinherited by the Dynasty's leader. Unofficially, a strong mind and body are determinant in selecting the proper heir to this title. However, being a hereditary one, subjective bias isn't unheard of.
Requirements
The ability to have children, the absence of severe physical defects, sufficient mental and physical capacity. Other than that the title-succession is guaranteed depending on what specifics the realm's current ruler strives for.
Grounds for Removal/Dismissal
There are many possibilities that can lead to a King's term premature end. A faction appointing an elligible heir to the throne upon disatisfaction with a King or Queen's performance, with the liege's forces or diplomacies unable to enforce their rule.
