Enthousiast
An enthousiast in Imperial culture is a scholar devoted to the studies of Mana and its manipulation. Given the physics-breaking nature of mana where sometimes something seems to stem from nothing, where cold turns hot, and form isn't permanent, one needs a flexible mind to test the limits of what some call magic can do.
