The Great Catclysm
There is a legend in this world. A legend that speaks of a great Cataclysm that befell it, wiping out nearly the entire ancient world in its wake. When the world was still young, in the time before record or memory, An asteroid slammed into the planet. The untold damage of this event was compounded by a cosmic convergence of all planes overlapping on the material world. Giants, Demons, Devils, Celestials, Elementals, and fey spilled out onto this world and erupted into violence and bloodshed spanning a decade or more. This was known as the Great Rending.
As the fighting raged on, the landscape itself changed over time. The impact of this Asteroid caused a single continent to split into several.
The impact and the movement and shifting of these great land masses awoke something far older. and far more dangerous....
You are all heroes of this ancient time of legend. You have fought for years after this Cataclysm. You beat back devil hordes using might and magic. And you formed alliances with Fey and Celestials to overpower the never ending swarm of Demons laying waste to this world. You have been successful so far. Enemies have been destroyed, gates have been closed, and peace glimmers on the horizon like a sun beam through darkened skies.
You stand on the field of the latest battle you fought and won. You survey the landscape littered with bodies of all shapes and sizes. Suddenly you hear the ground beneath you begin to quake as if the land is shifting once again. Only this time it is different. You can scarcely hear animalistic roaring coming from beneath the frozen ground beneath you.
Something beneath the ground lying dormant has awoken.
You suddenly see a giant scaly hand plunge through the ice and slam down on the ground. It digs its claws in as it lifts the rest of its body out from this chasm.
(Allow players to make attacks?)
It brings its full form and you see this colossal behemoth straight from a dark nightmare. It's reptilian form towers 50 feet above you, It opens its mouth revealing rows of gigantic sharp teeth as it lets out a Roar.

If the players are defeated
The last of you lose consciousness as this monstrosity violently rips you apart and feasts on the corpses around the battlefield, including your own. None know what became of this monster later known as a Tarrasque. Some say it returned to its dormant slumber either by choice or by necessity. But it returned to its sedation beneath the earth and what little life remained rebuilt over millenia. None have seen the Tarrasque since and its very existence has morphed into myth. But it is still alive and remains buried beneath us until one day it will rise again to wreak untold havoc and sorrow upon our world. If the Players Win
The monster lets out one final blood soaked roar and falls to the ground. Many believe that its roar could be heard over every continent and its death throes were accompanied by the largest earthquake felt up to that point. You all stand over its lifeless corpse. Unbeknownst to you, your great deed will carry down through millenia. Your names will be remembered in myth and legend. Your act will be sung about by the greatest bards of our time. You single handedly saved the world of total annihilation at the hands of this creature, Which historians would later come to name Tarrasque. You live out the rest of your days in notoriety and wealth as civilization begins its long reconstruction. To this day if you dare to travel to what is known as the Forgotten Lands. You can find a gargantuan skeleton of frightening proportions sticking out of the ice and snow. A monument of a hard fought battle. a Time of chaos and death.
