Session 139: When Last We Met 10

When last we met, The party had just been revealed in the revelation that their host, Carmichael was not who he said he was, Revealing that he has somehow been with the Corville family for generations and causing all their strife and misfortune. He proceeds to reveal his true Oni form and bring forth legions of undead to aid him as a battle ensues.

The party does their thing wiping out the waves of undead as Carmichael deals some damage and evades reciprocity by turning invisible. Romaia unleashes a barrage of eldritch blasts which damages a group of specters who are then quickly finished off by Vandread. Carmichael is at one point cornered in a room by Vandread who launches a barrage of magical spears at him before he flies out of the window to relocate himself. His essence seems to bring a never ending supply of corpses to aid him. Finally he pulls off one last desperate gambit, disguising himself as Sebastian Corville to try and tug at the heartstrings of the party. They instantly see through it and continue pummeling the devil until finally it lashes out at Mistral and Vandread, Clawing at the face of Mistral who invokes a hellish rebuke which puts this Creature down once and for all. The Corpse of sebastian morphs back into the Blue skin devil Carmichael who was impersonating him.

With this creature's death, the last of the zombies approaching the fight turn back and return to their eternal slumber in their graves. The Oni seeming to be a beacon of negative energy which kept their spirits there by force and brought misfortune on all within his grasp. The house of Exham Priory and those who lived there can finally rest in peace.

After their horrible experience with Carmichael, and knowing the destruction these things can wreak, Vandread and Mistral vow to go and find other Oni in the world and hunt them down.
