Session 137: When Last we Met 9/21/25

General Summary

When last we met, the party were engaged in battle with the shield guardians bound by magic to protect the assassin known as "The Weeping Man". The party slowly whittles away at their health with physical attacks as well as Eldritch blasts. Finally, the last of these constructs is put down by Mistral. With quiet back in the mansion, The party sets about searching the house, starting with the corpse of The Weeping Man Himself. Finding weapons as well as strange amulets around his neck.

Vandread identifies these as being the thing that controls and binds the shield guardians to the wearer. Unfortunately the guardians belonging to that necklace are lying in scrap heaps. The party proceeds to investigate rooms on both floors, looking for a deed of ownership along with any treasures and loot they can find.

The party moves about and finds just that along with two more shield guardians and the appropriate amulets to use them. Vandread takes ownership of one and gives the other to Romaia. From there, the party decide to cast speak with dead on The Weeping Man to find out if he's stashed any other treasures in the home. Fearing he would not be truthful to the party, Mistral casts alter self on himself to look like the envoy of the Ferrymen. After that, Romaia casts the spell and Mistral goes about questioning the man formerly known as Nils. He reveals other secrets the party missed and information on the Ferrymen. The latter of which was not very abundant.

Before asking his final question and ending the spell, Mistral drops his disguise and his final question is "Any Last words" before blasting him through the chest. The Weeping Man attempts to spit at Mistral but fails and returns to the deathly silence of the grave.

The party investigate a secret stash he alluded to during their questioning and find some emergency cash, some falsified documents, and 6 of these Ferrymen Coins which are used to summon them. Mistral takes the lot and sorts it out later. The party then proceed to take the man's entire library of books from him and dispose of the bodies of The Weeping Man as well as his automatons.

With that, the party have closed this chapter of their adventures and Mistral tied up the loose ends from his painful past.
