Session 133: When Last We Met 8/3/25

General Summary

When last we met, The party awoke inside the town of Ailec. The place entrusted to them for the rebuilding and repopulating. So far the town is making good progress. They take their leave of it for the time being and head down to Mount Cashell by way of Airship.

They arrive that evening and immediately go about looking for their Vampire friend, Stephen. Mistral takes to the rooftops and calls out to him. Eventually he somehow appears behind Mistral. The two share a hug and a high five as they catch up. Eventually after the topic of Stephen's parents come up, The group collectively have an... interesting idea. They want to build some sort of jail facility to house the worst of the worst criminals and bring Stephen and his family over to feed on them continually.

They decide that night that they will get a land permit from the city council and build it. The following morning, The party head to the City council where they are greeted warmly as both Lords and Ladies of the realm but also as protectors and saviors. Vandread presents their case to the council and wears through their skepticism and incredulity, Convincing them of the benefits of such a place. The council mull it over and examine a few maps and then offer the party a plot of Land on the edge of the Battle Grove, Near a place called The Proving Grounds.

Vandread pays the council fee of 400gp and they are awarded deeds and certificates to the land as well as permits to build on. After that, the party carouse about the city waiting for Nightfall. When it finally comes time, The party head over to the house Stephen revealed he and his parents live. A dilapidated manor house on the southern edge of the city. They walk up to the imposing and seemingly abandoned structure and Mistral knocks on the door.

They are greeted by a servant who asks what their business is. They relay that the possibility of endless food sources to which this servant asks them to wait a moment, Before telling them they may enter. They are brought to a parlor where they meet the lord and lady of the house, Jonas and Paulette Derleth. The party reveals their knowledge and friendship with Stephen, To which the pair admit that he is not an actual blood relative of theirs but rather an unhoused street urchin they planned to feed on and put out of his misery, Instead, The patriarch of their family, Cornelius, Decided to turn Stephen as some sick joke. They lament that Stephen's existence forces their hand in keeping him a secret.

The party then lay out their plan to build this Vampire feeding grounds jail and they manage to win over Jonas and Paulette. However they warn that Cornelius will be more stubborn and may refuse to leave Their home. They draw up details and caveats for this facility, such as not building near any running water sources and the prohibition of silver items or weaponry inside. All parties reach an agreement surprisingly easy. Vampires it seems are one of the few monsters in this world where actual reason and negotiation can be met. They all enjoy a nice meal and take their leave of the foreboding house on Sackville Street.

Almost a full year then passes in the blink of an eye as The party first construct a second Clay Golem to assist in the building of this prison and then the 250 days of overseeing construction of this facility. It finally gets built and now it seems lies a challenge of transporting 3-4 vampires, plus their coffins, plus soil of their resting place, plus their servants and familiars almost a hundred miles to the north to Relocate them and end any chance of a mass panic in the city over these blood suckers.

And that's where we'll pick up next time!
