Session 103: When Last We Met 11/17/24

When Last we met, The party had just returned from the abyss to the palace of Aziraphal. They slew hordes of demons as a test of valor brought on by the Solar himself. Upon their return however, Mistral finds that in slaying several of the demons himself, The book of Vile Darkness abandoned him and took to a new owner.   The party asks Aziraphal for aid and he says he will commune with a power higher than himself to ascertain the book's location. The party is allowed to ask 3 questions of this mysterious being who inhabit's Aziraphal's body.   Through their questioning, they find out the book is still in the Abyss. With their hearts heavy, the party take a long rest inside the palace. The next day they make preparations to return once again to the infinite Abyss. Aziraphal give the party the aid of two lieutenants: A Planetar celestial by the name of Amriel and a unicorn by the name of Inari. Together they are sent back down to the abyss. To the very battlefield they just left.   The party take to attempting to harvest parts of the demons they slew and are successful. claiming the horns of a Goristro and the implements of the unholy butcher. From there, Inari hears a very detailed description of the Book of Vile Darkness in order to teleport to its location. She succeeds and they are brought to some mysterious chamber. A dark figure approaches them and to their horror, The book of Vile darkness has fallen into the hands of Baphomet, One of the Demon Princes of the Abyss. He says that bartering for the book is out of the question, and if they wish to have it, they'll have to take it from him.   From there a heavily pitched battle takes place between the party and their allies vs. The Horned king himself. He deals a staggering amount of Damage, Cleaving off Vandread's leg in the process, Cursing Ukko to not be able to cast high level spells, and taking a huge bite out of their Unicorn Ally.   Eventually, after much consternation, the party whittles Baphomet's health down a significant amount. After nearly bisecting Vandread in half, Baphomet threatens that this will not be the last time they meet and attempts to teleport away. Mistral however, had other plans. He casts a successful counterspell on Baphomet. The shimmering of his vanishing is cut short and he remains, and the fight goes on.   Beaten, bloodied and coughing up blood from an arrow wound inflicted by Celeste, The horned king looks on as Amriel the celestial deals the killing blow with his greatsword. Impaling the king of beasts and ending his life forever.   What rammifications (or rewards) will come from slaying a Prince of the Abyss?   We'll find out next time!
