Sloobludop
Sloobludop is a kuo-toa village on the eastern shore of the Darklake in the Northdark. The village looks like a massive tangle of algae and kelp lit up by phosphorescent spots. The village has a number of rickety towers, lashed together with rope and plank bridges set in haphazard patterns. In 1487, the a religious power struggle between the cults of the Sea Mother and Deep Father led to an event known as The Deep Father's Rise, which possibly destroyed the village.
Sloobludop spreads out along the rocky shore of the Darklake, with high fences of oven netting to the north and south of the village boundaries. The entire village is dimly lit by spots of phosphorescent fungi, corals, and bioluminescent fish glands that have been hung about. The entire village was built to match to aquatic sensibilities of the kuo-toa, and thus it looks like an underwater settlement.
The entire village is crisscrossed with bridges and platforms, connecting a majority of the structures to one another. These could be traversed without difficulty, though their construction was feeble and unreliable.
Trading
The primary service in Sloobludop has always been providing ferry and navigation services to the other races in the Underdark. Although duergar in nearby Gracklstugh provided a similar service, kuo-toa from Sloobludop provided it at a more reasonable rate, often knew how to navigate the Darklake far better than anyone else. In addition to these travel services, Sloobludop has traded slaves and fish in far off Menzoberranzan, who do not have easy access to the waters of the Darklake.
In the year 1487 DR, the religious crisis became so dire that Sloobludop was only exporting fish and simple goods, as it was no longer safe for anyone to visit the village.
