The Breadsmith Buff
It's Just Really Good Bread
"Okay darlin' here's a fresh goodie right out the oven! This time around I've been experimentin' and whatnot with how much yeast I can put in without it goin' catawampus!-"
At first you can only hear her muffled voice from in the kitchen, but soon enough Powder bustles in from the doorway towards the counter with something wrapped up in her hands; clearly still hot from baking, as you can see her almost juggle it from hand to hand before setting it down in front of you.
"So if I were to whip up a guess, I reckon this one will either boost ya plenty more than usual... or it'll inflate ya."
You stare at her in silence.
"25% off~" she says with a smirk.
After a pause, you sigh and reach for your coin pouch.
The concept of eating food to grant yourself magical and alchemical effects is nothing new, but it's in the little differences and methodologies in doing so where you'll find some truly fascinating uses of this practice. One such example is through the Enchanted Desserts selection offered by The Breadsmith Guild, a small but deceptively popular bakery on the Southern end of Stonewood nearby The Sleeping Squire.
The cozy little shop has gained a fantastic reputation among adventurers looking for simple yet effective buffs, bonuses, and boons to aid them in their endeavors. So much so that in some circles it's become a common slang to refer to someone has having "the breadsmith buff", even though "The Breadsmith Buff" actually refers to a specific effect granted through select desserts offered by the bakery.
A Buff that Rises Above
The Breadsmith Buff is a unique application of Enchantment magic that functions similarly to many alchemical items. By using a uniquely receptive type of yeast, as well as providing a casting of the spell during the baking process, the consumer is granted the effects of the spell in stages that gradually rise in potency.
Other than the ease of use and simple creation, the use cases for this are limited. In practice, the user is, at best, granted a weakened version of the Enchantment with no guarantee that it will reach its original strength or effect. But never underestimate the usefulness of even a miniscule boost to your energy, sometimes that's all it takes.
Mixed & Matched Desserts
While this buff is only offered through their desserts, there's still a variety in how the ingredients used may affect the buff itself. Desserts high in sugar may grant you a faster activation, different frostings may influence the type of general boosts granted, and/or the type of bread or dough could affect how reliably the buff takes effect.
It's far from a sound science, however, and the Guild is constantly experimenting with different recipes and combinations; those willing to play guinea pigs are often rewarded discounts in return.

Very cool idea and sometimes it's these that just bubble up from us and become our favorite works - I can imagine that as a guinea pig it might sometimes go wrong, depending on what was baked into it?
Thank you! And yeah absolutely, but the discount TOTALLY makes it worth it I assure you you gotta believe me
While I would love to go on an adventure, writing them is enough for me.
