Song of Blossoms

Prompt: A Ritual related to agriculture

There's a reason that Vrofmas continues to be populated primarily by elves. When a tree is picked to be the potential home of a maturing elf or of a new growing family, the melodic voice of magical-infused song is used to carve their abode into the wide trunk and in doing so, the elves who participated in the song as well as their children form a bond with the tree.

What many don't know is that the tree and the land around it become accustomed to the voices of that family especially. Everything from the tree to the wildflowers to the personal garden seek the song of the family constantly to continue to grow and flourish. If the home is being given to another, it is best to come before the home and welcome the new caretaker(s) to the tree and to the land, and let their voices sing in harmony to allow for a smooth transition.

All along the continent one will hear the voices of the elves, singing as they travel through the woods or tend to their home. At sunrise though, it becomes a symphony. What has become known by outsiders as the Song of Blossoms is simply the collective voices of the elves in the morning as they wake. They have risen another day to the beautiful world and they eagerly glide around their home welcoming nature to awake to it as well. Flowers blossom, the bark thickens on their tree, the water glistens. The garden will grow in those few minutes at the speed that would take days in other lands.

When an individual who isn't an elf attempts to live in one of these homes, they quickly find it troublesome. Some flowers wilt, overgrowth quickly spreads across the property. Any duration away from the property and they may return to see the tree has even closed itself back off, the home hidden away again, within the tree.

One of the largest points of shame in the history of the elves of Vrofmas is regarding their departure en mas during the invasion. When everything was concluded and the elves returned, banished, to Vrofmas, thousands of homes had closed themselves of to their owners. Their songs were unharmonious, misaligned with their actions over the past many years. It took hundreds of years more to return the land to the state of peace that the elves had walked away from at the beginning of the war.

Plenty of other races still live happily on Vrofmas but these beautiful homes inside trees, with gardens that turn to the voices of their owner, will usually only respond to their elven caretakers
