The Child – Episode 8

The child in her arms, Desdemonia attempted to charm the newborn Princess Nimria. When this fails, the child began to shriek. This drew the ire of the ironwood tree, striding through the combat to reclaim the child, and the disguised devil was only just able to slip beyond its leafy grasp. Only when the charmed king intervened does the tree relent its attacks. In return, Desdemonia planted a draining kiss on him, thus breaking his charm. In an attempt to escape, she fumbled on the stairs, nearly dropping the princess. When cornered again, she used an additional charm person to beguile the king once again.   The gargoyle hurled infernal flame after infernal flame at the ironwood tree, to little effect, as the enchanted bark was resistant to fire. King Maoras, in his wood elemental form, sent a swarm of moths to engulf the gargoyle. Blinded and disoriented, Erick Idylvain could no longer maintain his gargoyle form and transformed back into his mortal self. As a weeping human, he threw himself and his puny dagger first at the ironwood tree, then at the Queen herself, both in a bid to impress Yog or Desdemonia or both, but neither desperate attack succeeded.   The target of eight archers, Agnoment weathered the hail of arrows with unholy magnificence. Then, drawing her sword, Queen Sionne nearly cut the angel down. When another round of arrows rain from the archers, Agnoment was feathered and felled. Once the angel was dispatched, the rangers make for the Ambassador Tree and run smack into an enormous flesh golem.   Grappled by its roots, Alizabeth slugged away at the ironwood tree. Dr. Hughbert , meanwhile, was starting to lose his nerve. Steering the monster through the combat, he made his way towards the angel but was prevented by the troop of rangers departing the Bastion Tree. After his attempt to leap over their heads spectacularly failed, the Doctor was balled up and hurled into the Bastion Tree by Alizabeth. Grappled by the crowd of rangers, Alizabeth was overpowered and shoved off the bridge, falling one hundred feet to the ground below.
