Ring of Light

The Ring of Light is the biggest simple of power within Sumentaa. The ring is warn by the head of the Counsel of Light, the governing body of Sumentaa. The ring is a symbol of the role and doesn't hold any magical powers.

The symbol

The Ring of Light is the symbol of power. It is worn by the head of the the Counsel of Light as a show of status and power. The ring is part of the position and can thus not be capt by a former head of the counsel. There is only a single ring. Losing the ring is not an option and damaging the ring is a no go. But the social importance that this ring holds is so great that a wearer creates it with upmost care. Not being able to properly look after a ring is seen as incompetence and those that damage it will always lose there position in the Counsel of Light as they can so longer be seen a trust worthy.

History

This ring was first introduced to the the Counsel of Light when a jewler offered it to the seccond counsel. He had is blesses by the sun after he lost his family to the war of wilds. He worked on it for years and years to get it perfect, putting in thousends of hours in the making of the ring and in earlier version that he deemed not good enough. when he finally found the perfect design the sun came down to bless him and his work aqnowlaging the exaptunal carftmenship and work that gotten into carfing the hard cloudstone and the fine metal work. The sun told him to gived it to the counsel so they would always rememeber who they were working for.

With a blessing form the sun the counsel could not refuse the gift and decided on wearing it insted of keeping it save in a falt so they could remember what the dun had said in her belssing of the ring. "A craftmanship so fine, a story so brutal, a reason to protect. A protection given by one so many can trive. I bless thins ring with my light so this land can come back alive." from that day on the ring has become a symble of what the counsel stants for and it's mission in the protection of the people of Sumentaa

Appearance

Glowing golden in the glistening light of the sun.

Made of a beautiful golden alloy what serounds a beautyfull golden glowing cloudstone this ring is the emboyniment of the sun. The center stone is serounded by a simple band of gold that is set on a simple gold band. the design is simple but it it's simplisety lays it's power.

The stone is cut in a oval shape that has a smooth domed top. Where the op of the stone use to be perfectly smooth a long time ago time and war have added some minor chratches to it. Cloudstone is an incredibaly strong stone and is nearly inposible to damage but it is not imposible. Where the top of the stone is smooth the bottom is not. It is carved with sunbeems shootign out from the middle giving the stone a beautiful shine when the light hits it as it reflects the light in all different directions.

Sister rings

Once upon a time a counsel thought it a good idea to make "sister rings" to the Ring of Light. They were not the same but took heavy inspiration from it and were to be warn by the other members of the Counsel of Light . They wanted to do this to show that all the counsel members were equal but it did not work. The people of Sumentaa found it pratentus and showy, something the counsel was not to do. they are there to cat in the intrest of the people not to stand above it. The counsel that came up with the idea kept the rign around and woar them with pride but as the new membres come in they revused to wear the rings as they did not see it's purpus and it had no cultural value to them. And thus the rings were and still are not worn anymore.
