A Fading
"There are some times where our world gets cloaked in darkness as the sun leaves us. She has always come back to the spot she left vacant, but every time it happens people wonder where she might have gone and who was in such dire need of her guidance that she would leave her spot in the sky's."
Summary
A Fading is the natural event where the moon moves in front of the sun. We call this a solar eclipse, this is information we in this world have but in the world of Sumentaa it is somehting they do not know. To them the Sun, there highest Spirit and bringer of life has disappeared. With them holding the Sun in such high regard something as the sun disappearing for a short amount of time can cause a lot panic amoungsed its people. Over time a myth started to form that when there was an fading the sun had left it's spot in the sky's where it sits to oversee it all to come down to the clouds to help out one of her beloved people after stories spread of people talking to her during an fading.
Historical Basis
Where many of mythes are based around a past event that happened this myth is based around a natural event that is still happening and will keep happening till futures past.
The myth of the fading is something is based on the real life event of what we call a solar eclipse. A solar eclips is a reacuring event that happens on a very long timeline and every time it accuures it is not visible to all everyone. This is why it's such a history to the people of Sumentaa as they do not have the technology to track every solar eclipse that is happening all the time. Part of this is that there is very little academic exchange between the rings of the greater sumentaa.
Spread
This myth is a widespread believe by many and it is rarely questioned. The Sun is held in such great power that the thought of something blocking her light is not even believed to be possible. That it is something that the Sun would never allowed to happen in the believes of the people of Sumentaa.
The myth is not as old as the natural phenomenal of a solar eclipse, but it is still a very old myth that has been around for eons. Part of why it has such a strong hold on the people is that the other option too them is such a heartbreaking thought that it put fair in many before the myth became to be. The thought that there Sun, the bringer of life would leave them was a scary thought to them, even with the average solar eclipse only lasting a couple of minutes at most. And the single ring of light that was left behind during the eclipse was interpreted as a sings of doom before the myth took hold. So many did not question the myth when it came across there path as to them is was better than the alternative, that the Sun was leaving them.
