Veil Wardens

The Veil Wardens are a religious sect that follow Satis, the Ferrier of the Dead. The warden's primary goal is to maintain the boundaries between the souls of the living and the dead. Their overall practice has been summarized by theologians as "Keeping the living alive and keeping the dead in the ground".

Mythology & Lore

According to the

Divine Origins

According to the mythos of the Veil Wardens, the god Satis took on the role of transporting souls of the recently deceased to their rightful afterlife shortly after he was cleaved from the flesh of his mother Izi. in the centuries that followed, a growing number of magically adept mortals began the practice of necromancy, displacing these souls before Satis could properly transport them. Angered with these acts of natural defiance, Satis tasked his followers with rooting out and destroying any threat to the veil between life and death.

Tenets of Faith

  1. Honor those that draw breath. A Veil Warden will go to great lengths to care for a living creature in mortal peril; they perceive this as a sacred service to the strands of fate.
  2. Put to rest those who breath no longer. Once a living being has died, a Veil Warden must perform the proper rites and ceremonies to deliver them to Satis. These rituals prevent the soul from being resurrected.
  3. Pierce those who may pierce the veil. The wardens actively seek out and destroy both necromancers and their works; they will destroy any scrolls or research relating to necromantic practice.
