The Tinted Council

Members of the Tinted Council are chosen directly by the King of Alderia. The council is currently comprise of the following positions:

• Lord Chancellor. Manages legal and legislative affairs on behalf of the King.
• Lord Privy. Serves as the chief historical advisor, maintaining records of importance such as lineage and lines of succession.
• Lord Chamberlain. Oversees national finance and budgetary needs, as well as matters of economic policy.
• Minister of Diplomacy. Maintains diplomatic relations with other nations and advises on matters of foreign affairs.

After the coronation of King Toltem Rickart following the conclusion of the first Underdark War, the newly crowned monarch was faced with the task of rebuilding a devastated nation. Many of Alderia's ruling Exemplar families had been eradicated by the Drow incursion, resulting in widespread lawlessness. In an effort to bring order to his new monarchy, Toltem gathered four of his most trusted advisors and assigned them duties in the reconstruction effort according to their abilities. These four, along with Toltem himself, formed the first Tinted Council, and swiftly built up the structure of the Rickart Dynasty.

Scholars have noted contrast of this structure when compared to the former Elondian administration. Unlike the system of Exceptionalism, the Rickart Dynasty ensured all land in Alderia was controlled directly by the crown, limiting any new lord's power to act as an extension of the king. The only land-owning lords that remained in the following years were orchestrated to pass their titles back to Toltem or one of his close relatives. Even the Tinted Council would eventually comprise almost exclusively of members of the Rickart bloodline.
