Sliver/Writ

Slivers, more colloquially known as writs, are physical certificates of ownership over an organization. Primarily created and traded in the city of Entre, writs are more than just stock certificates: they exist as a magical manifestation of the organization they represent.   Writs are not, by nature, tied to the individual that purchases them. While wealthy nobles can have their share of writs stored and guarded in the city's Obsidan Spire, the holder of the writ effectively owns it, ill-gotten or no. This very fact is said to be the original cause of Entre's "legitimate" Thieve's Guild known as The Appropriators, who were initially paid to return stolen writs to their rightful owners for a portion of what it was worth.   Writs below a certain percentage, depending on the organization, will have a gold value displayed on the parchment itself. This means that, at least inside the city of Entre, writs are as exchangeable as gold coins.   Entre's Mage's Guild handles both the creation and maintenance of writs. They are also able to split or combine writs for the ease of their owners. The distribution of writs is handled primarily by the workers of the Obsidian Tower.
