Dhruul Veneration

Dhruul Veneration is a set of religious beliefs that encompass the worship of dragons, specifically those of the Dhruul subspecies. At the center of this worship is the pseudogod Dhruul, Conqueror of Lands.

Dhruul Veneration is practiced by many species believed to have been created by the Dhruul during the Age of Awakening, such as the Kruuht.

Mythology & Lore

According to the Dhruul mythos, the first dragons of Omne arrived on the planet before any other sentient species. As their territory expanded, infighting began among the strongest dragons, who fought for control over the largest and most desirable territories. The battles of a thousand dragons shaped the land, carving valleys from the crust of the earth and raising volcanoes from the depths of the sea. After some time, a single dragon rose above the masses in his conquest for land. That dragon took the name Dhruul, and many others bowed before his might.

It is said that when the dragons witnessed the arrival of the Aos Si, Dhruul was enraged at the thought of another species inhabiting the lands he had won through conquest. Through this rage, he and his inner circle set to work on forging a new species, designed to subvert the Aos Si from within. These were the Sseeran, born from the snakes of the wild.

Upon seeing the works of Dhruul in the Sseeran, the blood brother of Dhruul became disgusted at the creature's lack of honor. The brother made his discontent known to Dhruul and the two did battle across the sky. The fate of Dhruul is ultimately not known, but the fate of the brother is proported to be exile from his lands, along with any dragon that followed him. This dragon took the name Shiin, and flew far east to lands unknown. It is claimed that Dhruul was never seen again.

In the millenia that followed, it is said that the dragons of Dhruul sought to create servants for themselves. They took the rocks of the land and heated them to their melting point, then shaped them into their own visage. They called these creatures the Kruuht. However, the Kruuht were simple-minded, lacking the tact of the Sseeran. Frustrated by their failure, the dragons of Dhruul looked to their previous success in the Sseeran. They tried twice more, growing the Ivik from Sseeran scales, and the Skori from the saliva of the Sseeran. Both fell short of expectation.

Those of the Dhruul Veneration hold to the idea that many of these old dragons grew bored with the land of Omne, and chose instead to abandon their lands for the stars. The few Dhruul that remain are simply holdouts, waiting scornfully to watch the realms fall to chaos before igniting the world in flame.
