Bearing of Dawn

While the cultural and religious practices of the Peninsulan Provinces and the Andlian Empire do not often overlap, they do share one ceremony in common, typically taking place during the summer solstice: the Bearing of Dawn. Most fervently celebrated in Herrisland, the Bearing of Dawn describes a coming together of Vita, the Andlian goddess of life, and Sol, god of the sun. It is said that, upon the two's first meeting, they danced over the horizon with great passion, lighting up the stars in wisps of light. The result of this encounter was the birth of the goddess of dawn, Oriena.   Celebrations of the Bearing of Dawn often include cultural dances performed by members of the local clergy, as well as specially-designed fireworks that attempt to imitate the wisps described in stories.
