Elf
The Elves are one of the most populous races inhabiting Omen, or Omedei as they refer to the world as. They are known to live in many different environments, intermingling with other races harmoniously. They view themselves as mediators when conflict arises without them, but are instigators if action isn’t taken when necessary. Elves are also known for their poetry, dances, songs, lorekeeping, and magical prowess. They favor natural beauty and anything that threatens their homes is met with fierce, unrelenting force. It is recognized that there are a multitude of different type of elves, with the most prominent ethnicity found around the world being the High Elves, also known as Aredhel (Singular) or Aredhil (Plural) in the elvish language.
Elven Traits and Culture
Elves and Personality
Elves can come off as rather stern, with the ones that tend to laugh and smile more being the ones that became adventurers to see the world. Elves can be pretty focused and ambitious with their goals, and often times will seek out others to share their experiences. Elves typically wave off insults and threats, knowing that they have lived long enough to have heard and dealt with worse.
Elves and Physical Descriptions
Elves have been known to be slender and smaller in stature. They are typically 5 to 5 3/4 feet in height and typically weight about 95 to 135 lbs. They tend to have pale skin and dark hair with verdant eye colors. Elves naturally don’t have body hair or facial hair. An elf reaches adulthood at about the age of 110 and the oldest known elf has reached the age of 640 years!
Elves don’t sleep like other races do. For about four hours a day, elves will meditate and thus gives elves the same benefit as eight hours of sleep! It’s still a mystery as to whether or not elves dream, but it’s assumed that they do.
Elves and Relations
Elves have been known to enjoy the company of all races. They hold only ill will towards orcs for how their peoples have fought in the past, but are willing to look past it due to how they’ve been aiding the world’s protection. Certain groups of elves even receive assistance from beings known as the “Balahran,” or in their language, “Scourge Raiders.” These beings, being nicknamed “Lizardkin” by other races, are lizardlike and are known for protecting those who struggle to protect themselves in exchange for something in return. For certain elves, this is in exchange for shelter. Those very elves have been known to be rather...large in comparison to their slender counterparts.
Elven Culture and Their Lands
Elves prefer to live in wild expanses that haven’t been tamed. However, elves don’t have a formal government, and are led by the fundamentals of their “clans.” As such, they live deep in forests and are rarely seen outside of their forest homes.
Elves have been known to be foragers and very adept at hunting. It is known that they also hold the secrets of blasting powder weaponry. They use it rather actively when hunting, and have been credited with innovations such as guns and fireworks. Otherwise, their clothing is what catches the eyes of others and typically is what is sought out by nobility of all kinds.
In terms of professions, elves are commonly found as bards, artists, or merchants. Other races, such as humans, usually enjoy meeting elves just to learn their secrets, which elves themselves usually enjoy, since they enjoy the drive that humans have over other races.
Elves and Religion
Elves have an interesting way of worshipping their deities, or to “Idols” as they refer to them as. Elves like to emulate their Idols and will dress themselves to look just like them, thus causing the belief of other races that all elves “look alike”. Many elven adventurers even seek to acquire enough coin to permanently change their appearance to look like one of these Idols. The commons Idols in elven culture are Jack, Aust, Nadir and Meredith. There are also elves that don’t worship an Idol. These are seen as outcasts, and are referred to as “Danwaith”, or “Back-Turned Folk.”
Elves as a Playable Race
Elven Traits
Elves maintain roundabout the same qualities as humans, even though they weigh less.
Elves have shown a distinct immunity to magical sleep spells and other stimuli. This is probably due to their mental training and trances.
Elves are capable of seeing twice as far as a human in starlight, moonlight, torchlight, and similar conditions of poor illumination. Unlike dwarves, they can still see colors and details with this keen eyesight.
Elves have access to training and exposure with longswords, rapiers, longbows, shortbows, and firearms. In doing so, it isn’t hard for an elf to learn how to use these by the time they become adventurers.
Elves are so observant of their surroundings that if they pass by a secret passage, they have a chance of stumbling upon that passage. It really depends on whether or not they are willing to undergo that venture into the unknown.
Elves are capable of integrating themselves amongst different people, and thus able to learn different languages.
Elven Sub-Race Traits
Aquatic Elf
Aquatic Elves still remain nimble and graceful, which aids them greatly when dealing with the harsh currents and constant exposure do the dangers of the sea. As such, Aquatic elves are considered to have the same dextrous trait and to be sturdier than normal elves, however they aren’t as fortunate when it comes to thinking clearly.
Dark Elf
Dark Elves, or drow, are as agile as ever. This means that drow have the same dextrous nature as most elves, however they suffer in decision-making due to their brash behavior. Being exposed to the constant changes of the sea, and the dangers of their hideouts in caves, this makes drow hardier than the typical elf.
Desert Elf
Desert Elves are not as alike as most would believe. They are very hardy and tough people, and are naturally resistant to the heat of the desert. This would imply that instead of being physically weaker, they are actually the opposite. Even though these elves appear to lack the social tact to be approachable, they barely speak to anyone anyway.
High Elf
High Elves, being the most common of the elves, have shown to be very nimble and elegant with their movements. As such, high elves are considered to have a higher dexterity, however they are rather fragile.
Wood Elf
Compared to their High Elf counterparts, Wood Elves are nothing like them. Wood elves seem to be extraordinarily strong, however, they are more instinctual than tactical. This would imply they aren’t the most reliable at planning things out.
