Darbasin

Long ago, a crusader during the Ruination laid upon the ground after a hard fought battle. His blade broken upon the neck of a Plague Baron who sought to sow destruction in the land. His blood seeped into the soil beneath him and his breathe escaped through the slits in his steel helmet. Hoping for a final sense of comfort, he limps over to a nearby pond seeking a drink for his parched throat. As he drinks from the pond, he feels relief from his wounds. He rests by the cool water and as darkness descends faint glimmering and glowing light emanates from the waters of the pond. As he rests by the waters, he slowly fades peacefully into the night. The pond has glowed ever since with a radiant light and holds a comforting warmth. Drinking the contents eases the pain of the imbiber and travelers feel a divine connection around the pond. As the pond grew in fame and recognition, more people flocked to the site in an act of prayer and devotion. As the faithful traveled to the site, some wished to stay. Eventually a settlement formed around the pond and became the village of Darbasin.   Darbasin is a town in the northern reaches of the Ardese Valley, to the north of Lake Rallacard. It is home to the Sun Pool, a glowing body of water with divine connections and healing properties. It is considered by The Campiotic Guide to be an official holy site of Fosredas, Heir of the Illuminant Sun. The pond rests in the center of the town as buildings and roads expanded like webs around the pond.

Demographics

The population is primarily human and halfling. However, the village has small minorities of elvish and orcish descent. The orcish population has declined recently due to discrimination and recent conflicts with the folk of nearby Hill orc tribes.   58% Human, 35% Halfling, 3% Half-Elvish, 2% Elvish, 1% Orcish, 1% Other   The people of Darbasin are a highly superstitious folk, devoted to the Campiotic Guide and their charges. Due to the villages status as a holy site, this is in no way a suprise. The village has a large percentage of the population being members of the clergy. Priests, paladins, clerics, or simple pilgrims. This village has a large number of Guidesfolk. However, the majority of people in town are either farmers or artisans, making a living in their home. The village has drawn a large number of farmers due to the Sun Pool offering particularly fertile soil in its vicinity.

Government

Despite being placed in the lands and territory of The Union of Hallen-Coredesh, the village is governed by the The Campiotic Guide with administrators selected by the Vocezei of Fosredas. The Guide has made a deal with Hallen-Coredesh to govern the land but offer a portion of the taxes in return for sway with the Vocezei.   The leader of the town is the Bishop who is appointed by the Vocezei. The Bishop is often a devoted follower of Fosredas who is given the role due to their personal rapport. However, it has also been used as a way to humble over-ambitious priests of the Guide. Sending them to a village of less than 1,000 people takes them away from the politics of their home city.   Due to the connections to the Campiotic Guide, there is very little presence from the Hallenic Glade Sentinels. Most of the guard presence is made from local militiamen and paladins of the Gilded Embrace. The Gilded Embrace are a paladin order that operates througout Czerelan in the name and glory of Fosredas. They support the village of Darbasin by serving as a guard force for the glory of their god. The village sees many new recruits to be trained by veteran paladins or mercenary captains who wish to gain favor with the Guide or pay back for their sins.

Defences

The village is home to a small cohort of 50 Gilded Embrace Paladins. A local militia supports this garrison with roughly 58 members who are trained by the paladins. A wooden pallisade surrounds much of the village, supported by watch towers to spot incoming threats. The Gilded Embrace also has a team of scouts who venture into the surrounding territories when the village is threatened.

Industry & Trade

The major industries of the village are the farming of grain and the creation of medicines. Darbasin is rich in agriculture and grows a large amount of grain that gets traded to the other parts of Hallen. The town is also known for their apothecaries and alchemists. There is a large amount of magical and healing ingredients to be found in the surrounding lands, and many have been grown in the gardens of local herbalists for years. The town has numerous apothecaries despite its size of less than 600. These medicines are offered in tithe to both The Union of Hallen-Coredesh and The Campiotic Guide.

Infrastructure

Despite the presence of the Sun Pool in the center of town, the towns greatest source of water is the nearby river fed by the surrounding hills. Several watermills rest upon the river milling the grains for the village and serving as a source of industry. The roads are well maintained despite the smal population due to the traffic. With so many different people coming through to see the Sun Pool, the roads have seen an overhaul in the past decade. The roads also connect to an impressive bridge that crosses the nearby river, maintained by the Gilded Embrace, it serves as a toll road to enter the land of the Guide. Darbasin is home to vast farmlands where they grow grain, beets, and medicinal plants. These crops help support their thriving agricultural and alchemical industries.

Guilds and Factions

The Local government is run by The Campiotic Guide.

Points of interest

In the heart of the village, the holy site of the Sun Pool rests. Glowing faintly with sunlight that looks as if it were always reflected. Even in the darkest nights the glow of the Sun Pool shines brightly upon the faces of the faithful who peer inside. This pond in the center of town is a dedicated holy site to the largest faith on Czerelan. The Campiotic Guide has a wide presence here in Darbasin due to the presence of this holy site, as it is closely related to one of their prime deities Fosredas, Heir of the Illuminant Sun.
