Peace Officer

We cannot allow bias and bigotry to penetrate our ranks. We must serve everyone equally and keep the lands safe.
  This is the official job title for members of Agi's Scales. They enforce the laws and do their best to protect the citizens of Omari. This position requires training and various assessments to ensure the right people are up to the task.

    Training

      Anyone interested in becoming a peace officer must participate in a mandatory five year training course. It's free for everyone; the course is funded by taxes. Each student receives a small allowance to help cover food and supplies.   Members complete physical training during this time while learning all current rules and regulations. Their character is also assessed during this time. The scales take pride in not employing violent or bigoted individuals.   Throughout training, members will also complete volunteer community work. These are opportunities for officers to show their dedication and willingness to assist others in need.    

    Next Steps

      Upon graduating, new officers are assigned an area to work. They can either continue working in their home region, or be compensated to move to cover an area in need of more officers. If they choose to move, they are allowed to relocate their family as well.   During their first year new members work under a senior mentor. This allows them to ask questions and to receive further guidance. Interested individuals may choose a more specialized field to ease into during this time.    

    Duties

      A majority of peace officers act as Omari's law enforcement. They patrol settlements and other areas to keep an eye out for trouble. Officers are typically the first to respond to various distress calls. They can range from simple civilian calls to dealing with large scale threats like monsters or other attacks.   There are other members who take on a specialty or other department based on their interests or abilities. Office and non combat positions are available. Potential alternative duties can include: secretary work, healing, social work, mental health / crisis workers, and detective work.
