Ýyr-Üpal

The Ýyr-Üpal, or the Skin of the Üpal, is an extremely thin layer of skin that covers the outside of the Ibrófeneð's spherical body known as the Žëša.

The Ýyr-Üpal measures around 1.5-2 cm in thickness, by far the thinnest defensive layer on the outside of the Ibrófeneð. However, it is still made of two layers, each measuring 0.6-1 cm in thickness, that are knit together to each other and distribute stress from layer to layer and bone to bone. In addition, there are slits at regular intervals along the inside layer of this skin, each hooked up to a system of vessels and protein-like organelles. Through these, waste products from the digestive and/or reproductive systems are transported into these slits and cause the outside layer to bulge and fill with these waste products. Due to the knitted nature of these two layers, the outside layer is stretched around this slit to form a pouch-like extension that eventually hardens into a scale, or Üpal.
