Ïfon-Gzšöëv

A Gzšöëv is a specific posture, almost always involving the legs, that signifies something to others in the vicinity. It is an integral part of nearly all Ibrófeneð cultures, although it will often differ between them. It is independent of language; two cultures that share a language can still have different Gzšöëv. However, Gzšöëv can often be the precursor to or occur concurrently with language, which represents a subcategory of Gzšöëv called Gzšöëv-Kaðofe. This subcategory makes up around 80% of all known Gzšöëv, emphasizing the dynamic and paralingual aspects of Ibrófeneðian language.

Terminology

Ïfon-Kaðút

Main Article: Ïfon-Kaðút
An Ïfon-Kaðút is a mode of communication using stored vibrations incurred through the motions of Ïfon-Wë, or sound-based languages. Despite being made of the same motions, they are different in that complete thoughts expressed in Ïfon-Kaðút are a single, complex vibration unique to that arrangement of words and that the actions are done in a way that will make the least amount of noise. This complex vibration differs mainly due to the vibrations of the individual actions employed, but it can also differ through the body parts used and any interfering object in contact that could dampen the signal. Once prepared by the sender, the vibration will be 'carried' by the sender's body, whose anatomy is built such that its skeleton can vibrate even if the creature itself is in direct contact with a surface. This vibration can last anywhere from a few minutes to 1 hour, based on slight differences in anatomy, specific bodily mutations or disabilities, outside weather conditions, etc. Upon reaching the receiver and expressing the presence of a message, the sender will move its Matošu to contact the receiver's body, thus transferring the vibration over.

VëtiŠ

Main Article: Vëtiš
The main instruments used in Gzšöëv are the legs, or Vëtiš. Each leg is independently controlled and able to switch between two forms, or Týkó. The claw form, or Týko-Fögaro, is used in combat, grasping, and writing, while the cup form, or Týko-Fömatapëž, is primarily used to stick to surfaces. Since each Ibrófeneð usually has 8 Vëtiš, the amount of possible combinations regarding just the Týkó is immense.
Regarding the use of vibration as sound, the large surface area of the Týko-Fömatapëž means that any vibrations created while a Vëtiš in that form will be dispersed into that cup form's contact surface.

List of Gzšöëv

The Gzšöëv listed here are those of the Kuulegŋný system, which represents one of the earliest and most widespread of Gzšöëv classifications.
Gzšöëv-Yarmë: 'Carry' Stance, where the claws are clamped shut and the Matošu is vertically outstretched, signaling that the Ibrófeneð has a message to be conveyed. If the message is for a specific person, the Matošu will point towards that person.
Gzšöëv-Ïspëvo: 'Forget' Stance, where one leg is in the Týko-Fömatapëž form and attached to a large surface, most often the ground beneath the Ibrófeneð. All other legs are in Týko-Fögaro, clamped shut, and either balancing on the ground or in midair. This signals that whatever it receives will not be told to anyone, represented by the leg dispersing all vibrations it receives into the ground automatically.
Gzšöëv-Yardal: 'Obscure' Stance, done by people nearby but not participating in an Ïfon-Kaðút transferral to signal that whatever message is being transferred will not be received by them. This is conveyed with all legs in the claw form, with those on the ground balancing on their tips and the others each covering one ear.
Gzšöëv-Tamdë: 'Watch' Stance, where one Ibrófeneð will walk around another multiple times, usually to ensure that the stance they seem to be making is in fact truthful. For example, one can do this in response to a Gzšöëv-Yardal to see whether any claws are secretly in the cup form (which would constitute a violation of trust). This is common as a formality and in sensitive situations, where eavesdropping on a conversation can have real consequences.
